Never been a fan of tv spots. They're too fast and short to show much and it reminds me of those hyperactive kids who try to explain their entire schoolday in one breath.
There's simply no time to build a story synopsis and certainly no time to create a mood with a strong string of ambient soundtrack music.
I think they're there for the impulse movie shoppers, and to create a fusillade of awareness by bombarding you repeatedly every day and night until you accede to their insistent demands to buy a f*cking ticket.

And thats just it, Mink. I don't think the studios are completely retarded. Well.. Okay, but not down syndrome retarded.
As they are "TV Spots" they know when and where to run these campaigns.. During or after sporting events, sh*tty sitcoms, american gladiators, saturday morning cartoons..
Mostly those majority of Black Americans that watch the most television.
Ever open someones cupboard to reveal a wall of plastic movie theater cups. Shrek, Batman, ironman, the likes.. These TV Spots were made for those people. The stupid people.. These TV Spots have mostly only been super successful with Comic book movies. What with the right amount of action and comic relief.
Try making an effective TV Spot for proper films.. You would ruin the first look of that movie. People would be turned off by it, because it would be stupid and pointless.. Could you imagine a 30 second tv spot for Braveheart, or Schindlers List?.. Nope.. it would be stupid..

Green Lantern looks better than the last trailer!!!!! Thor definitely is going to break the summer blockbuster of this year until TDKR arrives!!!!! Super 8 is OK but ansiously waiting... Kun Panda 2 also good too.... And Pirates of the Caribbean 4, is much better than the last 2 installments, I hope Marshall donīt bring musical sh*t in this one!!!!

Ranger you can wank on mine if you want. She's not picky. I mean since you are a rabbit.
Thor looks great. Hemsworth seems to be the perfect choice.
@Minkowski:
Yes a tv spots' purpose is to hit you with a hammer and tell you: Hey check this movie out since you've heard of it watching Oprah all day long chewing on chicken wings.
you cant tell much story in 30 seconds but you can show some great shots, cool one liners and awesome CG.
And I think it's not easy to edit such a clip. Sell a movie in 30 seconds...

The Green Lantern spots have the vibe that should have been in the first 'trailer', and it looks as though they've done a heap more work on the CG. I think comic book peeps would have been more interested in seeing this movie if this the first impression of it, rather than 'Plank' Lively and Ryan 'Wooden' Reynolds.
and Jake's right - Hemsworth looks the part, lets hope he delivers
