"The Expendables" Sequel Gets a Release DateSubmit Comment
Lionsgate has announced that the sequel to Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables" will be released in theaters on August 17th, 2012, just one week after the "GI Joe" sequel and almost exactly two years after the first film.

The script for the sequel has been written by David Agosto and Ken Kaufman (Space Cowboys). Stallone will once again star in the film, but will not direct. As a result, he's been meeting other potential directors.

Regarding the story, Stallone previously said that he would like the sequel to focus on new characters and reduce the role of older ones. Bruce Willis will get a bigger role and Jean-Claude Van Damme will likely join the cast.

Let's get a descent action director on board if Stallone won't direct himself this time.

Someone like Joe Carnahan i liked what he did with the Ateam or James Mangold who has worked with Stallone before on Cop Land and again i liked Knight and Day as well.

Wouldn't it be easier if he just made a montage of these dudes kicking each other?

I'm guessing I'm one of few who didn't like the first one. I really did want too, but it was just bad. And by the sound of it, this sequel doesn't seem to be any better. If he reduce the previous characters, which barely had screen-time to begin with, we will se even less fighting.

This shouldn't be so hard, Stallone!

Sly, please make sure Arnie is casted and give him a bigger role in Exp.2 than first film. You need to take him away from his god awful Governator animated project. Give Arnie a reason to get back into fighting shape. Arnie needs a real over the top testosterone filled project to get him back into the world of Hollywood. Fans want to see him again blowing sh*t up, crushing skulls with his bare hands and delivering the best classic one liners. He has spent too many years in Government service and it has made him into an old jelly man.

Also Sly please give Arnie cool lines like “If it bleeds we can kill it”. You can even make it a reference to Lohan’s vag i.e. the new threat in Expendables 2.

'Bruce Willis will get a bigger role'

thats a good start.just get rid of all the wrestlers and dumb faces from the first movie and we might have something going here...

I'm pretty sure that Jesse Ventura said that if it bleeds line in Predator not Arnold.
According to IMDB Bolo Yeung's name is attached to be in the sequel please make that happen. For any of you who don't know Bolo he's the chinese version of Arnold big as hell and was in Enter the dragon with Bruce Lee,double impact, and bloodsport with Van Douche.he's in his 70s and still looks mean thanks to Tai chi

"I'm pretty sure that Jesse Ventura said that if it bleeds line in Predator not Arnold."

You would be wrong. Ventura says "I ain't got time to bleed". Arnie says the other one.
