"Green Lantern" Just Now Hiring Voice Cast?

"Green Lantern" Just Now Hiring Voice Cast?Submit Comment
We just heard Warner Bros admit that they underestimated the amount of time it was going to take for all the CGI in "Green Lantern," which is why the first trailer ended up worse than expected. But with less than three months before release, it turns out that the studio is just now putting together a cast to voice the animated characters in the movie.

According to LA Times, Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean, The King's Speech) will lend his voice for Tomar-Re, a bird-beaked alien who teaches Ryan Reynolds' character how to use his new cosmic powers.

Meanwhile, LatinoReview has learned that Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile) is in talks to voice Kilowag, one of the Lantern trainers from the Bolovax Vik planet.

Well, you can't blame them for rushing.

This probably isn't as bad as it sounds. A lot of the times, these voice-actors can record their entire performance in a day or two.

I think Paul Bettany did all his Iron Man lines in a day. Same thing with the Transformers voice actors, they only took a short time to do their work.

The casting probably should've been in place, but still, I don't think this necessarily means the movie will be bad.

The terrible CGI, writing, post- 3D, etc etc will make it suck.

Guess this will be as good as the 3d conversion on "Clash of the Titans"...WB you really are a bunch of douches..just hope they somehow pull their fingers out their arses and gerit dun.

That's right because the studios will always sacrifice the professionalism and timing of a film to meet the original release date so all the execs can go buy new Ferraris. Hollywood need to start looking at how France do it. They make good films with actors who can act and they make money. And if the film takes longer than expected then the audience will accept that. I'm sure Mozart didn't have deadlines to reach.

Will he sound like barbossa? Or like Cotton's parrot?

If it's not going to happen the right way by a certain time, then push it back. People would much rather have a good film delayed than a bad film on time.

This film was doomed from the beginning. they need to reboot this f*cker before the release of the original

Geoffry Rush for Toma-Re?
Damn! I was hoping for Gilbert Gottfried.

Granted they could have had stand in voice cast fill in for stars while they animated, but everyone has a different rhythm to how they speak. So what are we going to have? Out of sync dialogue with animated mouths on occasion???

I agree.... Reboot this before it is even released. Good Job Hollywood! You guys proved once again how you can F something up very easily.

So... how does unexpected CGI work get one behind in their voice casting?!

Apples n' oranges... yes?

Who's running this project... a Lohan?

Micheal Madson should be the voice of Kilowog. He was great inthe animated version. Poosiers.

I don't blame them. It's just two voice overs that were previously done by John Larroquette and the All-State Insurance guy. If I suddenly got bigger talent and a budget raise, I'd replace them too.
It's probably only a collective 3 minutes of dialogue from the film anyway, so big deal.
trailertrash writes:

John Larroquette didn't he do the voice over on the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre ?
rabid writes:

he narrated the original and the remake.

This could give the 1990 Matt Salinger Captain America film a good run for the worst needs-to-be-permanently-shelved comic book movie of all time.

John Larroquette, yes, but Dennis Haysbert? No. He has a fine deep-bass voice that would be perfect for villain and hero alike.

The fact they would trade Dennis for someone with better recognitionn just goes to show me clearly that this film was made by money-hungry morons.
