Timur makes some crazy ass movies like nightwatch and daywatch,so it will be entertaining to watch as long as the movie has good visuals and gore and keeps and R rating. but still having lincoln mixed with vampires sounds like a jonah hill screenplay.

Didn't know that Alan Tudyk would be in this. Now this can be really good.

Yep, as long as it stay's R rated than it could well be an entertaining movie.

Ever since I saw Abraham Lincoln fight along side Kirk and Spock in Original Star Trek The Savage Curtain, I always though Lincoln would make a great kick-ass hero (yes, I am a Trekkie - who isn't). With Timur Direction, I'm sure there is going to be some incredible bloodbath visuals. Liam Neeson would make an awesome Lincoln.

If you like this concept do yourself a favor and don't read the book, as the concept is much better than the overall execution. Just the very idea that Abraham Lincoln was a vampire hunter is much more interesting, dramatic, and appealing than the actual novel.

Don't get me wrong, as the first couple of chapters are an interesting read, especially the initial diary excepts that tell the story of how young Lincoln got into the vampire hunting game.

But about the time that Lincoln runs into his self-righteous elitist vampire mentor, and the intense bromance begins between them you get a serious idea that the author paid for more to those allegations of Lincoln's homosexuality much more than any other bit of information about Lincoln.

This eventually develops into a murky good-vampire bad-vampire non-black and white thing going on as far as the necromantic blood suckers are presented...

...Yet make no mistake while pushing the concept that all vampires should be judged individually with some actually being helpful and essentially good, make no mistake he does not cut the same slack to the confederates and for that matter anyone that was remotely allied with the Southern states.

And so the story continues and Lincoln's vampire mentor/love interest falls even more and more passionately in love with Lincoln that he just can't seem to say goodbye at the end...

...Making for a total suspension of disbelief at the end when that initial concept from the beginning is turned on its end for favor of saving the Lincoln and vampire mentor relationship.

And not really a lot there to tell you the truth, a truly fluff piece of fiction where far more time was spent on the initial pitchable concept, but not much there after that.

But the first twenty to thirty minutes of the movie should rock, so there is that.

And personally I think that Timur Bekmambetov is a very good director and he will make the most of what he has to work with, which is as close to nothing as it can get after the first act.

Well the fact that this book got made into a movie isn't all bad, as it did help a colleague and friend of mine sell a similar concept to the powers that be.

Although thankfully they didn't have to waste their time coming up with a pedestrian piece of poo novel filled with literary fluff and nonsense to achieve the same exact goal.
