First Look: Ryan Gosling's "Drive" and Guy Pearce's "Lock-Out" Thrillers

First Look: Ryan GoslingSubmit Comment
Over at CinemaCon are plenty of never-before-seen promotional material, including for Ryan Gosling's "Drive" and Guy Pearce's "Lock-Out." Thanks to SlashFilm, we now have photos from both films. Check everything out below.

"Drive" is directed by Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson) and co-stars Carey Mulligan and Ron Perlman. It is set to hit theaters on September 16th.

Plot: Hollywood stunt driver by day (Gosling), a loner by nature, moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA's most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the husband of his beautiful neighbor, Irene (Mulligan). When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best - Drive.

"Lock-Out" co-stars Maggie Grace and is written by Luc Besson. In the movie, Pearce is a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the US. He's offered his freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter (Grace) from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.

Didn't really show that much.

"Drive" sounds like a very generic movie, but Winding Refn has recently made some quite offbeat movies (Valhalla Rising, Bronson), so there might be more to it than at first glance. And, hey, it's Ron Perlman.

"Look-Out" is basically "Taken" in space, which doesn't have to be bad. And Guy Pearce is always great to watch.

Why Nolan never put Guy Pearce again in his films? Nolan seem like bring favorite actor in last movies to his next

Guy Pearce sort of went off the map after that travesty the Time Machine whatever it was called, he's a great actor though, it's like Jeff Goldblum, they both deserve more roles in my opinion. But instead we're forced to endure Sam Worthington and Channin Tatum.

The Time Machine movie was pretty crap, Maybe they thought it was a good idea to remake the movie with H.G.Wells Great Grandson in the directors chair.

Your better off watching the Rod Taylor 1960's version a much superior film IMO

But i like Guy Pearce and why Nolan hasn't used him again is a mystery being as he was in the best film Nolan has made so far in Memento.

Drive sounds a lot like The Transporter to me..

Trailer you beat me too it. Maybe it's based on the video game?

Taco -

The video game the Driver you mean ? Could be.

That was kind of based on the Ryan O'Neal/ Walter Hill movie Driver which was a pretty good film back in the day with some great car chases, wellworth checking out

If Luc Besson were not attached to the Guy Pearce flick, I would be completely uninterested in it. I don't know how that man manages to make decent entertainment out of some of the most insipid and trite synopses imaginable sometimes, but he does. Guess I'll be seeing that one.

@tt

Thought the same thing.

Driver is a forgotten gem - pure style plus some great cinematography by Philip Lathtrop. Bruce Dern is great as ever and Isabelle Adjani...

Aw, and I wanted t say something negative...

Both films look quite interesting. Good movie news for a much needed change.

Kurskij

It was originally intended for Steve Mcqueen, but having already made The Getaway (he never wanted to play the same sort of character twice)and the fact he wanted to prove himself as a serious actor he made An Enemy Of The People instead.

Nice to see Walter Hill is making films again as well 48hrs and The Warriors are 2 of my favorite movies.
