Robert De Niro Set for 50 Cent's "Freelancers" Cop Drama

Robert De Niro Set for 50 CentSubmit Comment
We recently showed you the trailer for 50 Cent's "Setup," which actually stars Bruce Willis and Ryan Phillippe. The film will likely head straight-to-DVD, just like all the other stuff 50 Cent's production company has been releasing.

While many fans are wondering why respectable actors sign on for films with the rapper, Deadline is reporting that Robert De Niro will now re-unite with 50 Cent in "Freelancers." And Forest Whitaker is currently in talks to join them.

In the movie, 50 Cent plays the son of a slain NYPD officer who, with his two best friends, joins the Police Academy. After graduating, he's taken under the wing of his father's former partner Captain Vic Sarcone (De Niro) in the ranks of Sarcone's Street Vice Crime Task Force and he becomes part of Sarcone's rogue task force.

Jessy Terrero, who directed "Soul Plane" and 50 Cent's "Gun," will helm "Freelancers." Filming begins on April 18th in New Orleans.

Gone are the days that a Robert De Niro film used to be a cinema event.

No more do you think how far will he raise the acting bar this time out, Now It's more of how much is he scrapping the proverbial barrel of movie scripts and ideas.

Well I guess if you picking your scripts using the Eeny Meeny Miny Mo!!! Method its never fool proof is it :)

what's gonna happen to 50 cent when the currency of the dollar keeps going higher? will his films go straight to VHS by then? and why does his acting criteria never go outside of anything other than guns, drugs, police, gangs, and rap?...a person can only be really good at a couple of things, not really good at everything which hollywood would like us to believe, but this is why a good portion of people in hollywood are idiots, because they've increased in stupidity over the years since charlie chaplin proved them wrong about his movie 'modern times'...and that was just about old film style, same goes with music, old 90s rap isn't dead, it's just nobody is picking up where the late 90s left off...same goes for any genre of music...there's just less and less heart felt passion to entertainment these days, but there's still more of it to be made

Itsssssss... SHOWTIME II.

Note: 50 cent practicing with that cigar before he actually has to suck DeNiro's d*ck to get him to do this movie.

Ugh.

@bandolero999 - ever see Joe Pesci in 'The Super'? He plays a NY slumlord ordered by the court to live in his own slum. Based on a true story... pretty funny stuff.

And DeNiro - 'Midnight Run' (a comedy of all things), is still one of my very fav's of the man. Clearly he's just going for the paychecks these days. Can't blame him. Hollywood isn't cranking out a lot of 'classics' these days, and he's an actor that likes to work. I don't blame him for making crap. I just choose not to watch it.

The plot sounds alot like Street Kings, bad sign if 50 cent isn't enough.

I'm almost sure it's the other way around.

Deniro has hit his acting azimuth, and Fiddy is perhaps very, very slowly on his way up, to whereever the hell that may be; but one things is certain, Deniro is cinematically dead.

@ YoungChris i'm more than happy to let him do his own thing, i just hope he doesn't get butt hurt when i don't watch it, not to be insulting or anything, i'm just not a fan...and i think i speak for everyone here that's not satisfied with anything when i say, we hate it when rappers jump in the movie industry just because they're famous...dr. dre and snoop dogg at least went at it with respect when they made films like 'the wash'...and since then, i haven't seen more and more movies like 'the wash' where they play the same type of character over and over again....not trying to snap on 50 cent, i'm just not a fan, and lately i've never seen him play anything serious outside of guns or money in his films...there's more to life than getting rich or die trying
minkowski writes:

Rappers and other assorted no-talent pop-cultural hacks need to step the f*ck off the film industry; we have enough problems without them lowering the collective IQ another Fiddy points.
lawman writes:

And i am sure the movies ending wont involve DeNiro and his rebel unit somehow being involved in the death of .50 Cents father and .50 finding out and standing up the the corrupt regim and ultimatley killing DeNiro in a warehouse or high rise project!

One was once an icon, an astounding artist that amazed us with his Method and created masterpieces that his fans would be still humbled to have experienced in their lifetimes ....

and the other is Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson.

Wow, Robert, you not ONLY jumped that f*cking shark, you seemed to keep regurgitating its remains on a yearly basis.
