Does "Source Code" Infographic Poster Spoil the Ending?

Does "Source Code" Infographic Poster Spoil the Ending?Submit Comment
Summit Entertainment just sent us an infographic poster for their upcoming "Source Code" sci-fi thriller, which shows what happens each time Jake Gyllenhaal is sent back to the train. Check it out below.

The studio describes the poster as a visual representation of Caption Colter Stevens' (Gyllenhaal) multiple trips into the "Source Code" and the subsequent creation of parallel realities.

But if you look at the poster, it seems that the magic number is "8." I would guess that Gyllenhaal fails to stop the bomber seven times and then succeeds on the eighth. But what happens when he succeeds? According to the poster, Gyllenhaal stays in some sort of an infinite loop where he remains with Michelle Monaghan's character.

We'll find out what really happens soon enough. "Source Code" is set to hit theaters on April 1st.

If that's true then the marketing team have got a lot to answer for, that's like showing a father- son of Luke and Darth on the Empire Strikes Back Poster.

An infinite loop where he remains with Michelle Monaghan

Lucky Bastard

Better than being caught next to Kevin Smith on a plane i guess.

Speaking of being caught next to Kev Smith on a plane that exact thing happens in a film I watched the other day called 4,3,2,1 same director as Kidulthood. Nice idea but full of chiche's and cheesy one liners. Any way Kevin Smith sits next to one of the girls on a flight to new york and talks about not getting f*cked up the ass by the man (probably ad libbing) doing his best jack black impression it's cringe worthy at best. Also, while I was looking for that clip I found out that Kev Smith actually got chucked off a plane for being to fat, served.

Jake would of loved to be stuck in the loophole with heath ledger, but he overdosed so he wouldn't mind being stuck with joseph gordon levitt.

Cinema - LOL

Thought i had seen him in the trailer for that movie.

That was Noel Clarke that directed 4.3.2.1 and also Adulthood but he wrote and was in Kidulthood both very good movies.

The guy has done pretty well for himself from playing Wyman Norris (nice link from the original show) in Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

Hey, WP, you DO realize that EVERY trailer for this movie has said he has eight minutes to be in the past and defuse the bomb, right?

Think about that REAL hard, WP. Not a mystery.

I thought the 8 stands for the 8 minutes that he has everytime he travels through time?

"Hey, WP, you DO realize that EVERY trailer for this movie has said he has eight minutes to be in the past and defuse the bomb, right?

"
The WP guys are trying to say that all iterations till the seventh attempt end like an 'S' shaped race track with the start and end terminating at different locations. It means that Gyllenhal missed the mark and that necessitated a restart.
But the 8th one(which is continuously looped to form an "uneven" 8) suggests that the protagonist is stuck in an 8 minute time loop or some other reality where time is probably dilated so that he can keep banging Monaghan!
Dunno, seems like it could be a lame ending if that's the case.Kinda similar to Donnie Darko, eh?

Trailer- Ohh thought he directed Kidulthood as well, no wonder that was quite well done compared to Adulthood the pointless sequel. He was in Doctor Who as well wasn't he?

If the theory is correct and it does take him 8 attempts that's pathetic because like people have said everything is relating to 8 it would just be too obvious. But i wouldn't put it past Hollywood.

it's a fake poster... c'mon didn't you all realize source code released on april mop?

SPOILER ALERT

Yeah, that's exactly what happens. In the context of the movie it is an infinite loop, I suppose, but really it's an alternate reality where the terrorist attack is averted and he can live peacefullly. Source Code is a program that sends him back to the time of the attack over and over so he can analyze it. When the sympathetic director decides to allow him to die in this world (he's already severely injured) to live in the alternate reality, everything comes full circle.

THIS MOVIE WILL BE AWESOME. Don't doubt it.

Ok everyone, let's not read more into the poster than is there. The previews state that he goes 8 minutes back in time before the event happens (to try and stop whatever happened). So, the poster is showing the evolution of each minute that passed in that 8 minute time frame - no big secret involved.

I have no idea what Jake Vermont is talking about, but I'm sure the poster is pretty much self-explanatory.

Eight attempts, seven failures, one infinite loop. Yawn.

The real question is this, and excuse my math...if he goes back in time eight times, for eight minutes a piece, that's *pushing buttons, pulling levers, examining print out* 64 minutes.

Now, a typical film has about 90 or so minutes, so that's 24 minutes left.

Will they devote twenty or so to the prologue, setting the film up, and the perhaps four for the conclusion, or will they jump right into the 'source code' thing and drag each eight minute interlude out longer than real time?

I'm hoping for the former, but this Jake Gyllenhaal, who burned with PoP, so I'll thankfully never see this film.

I also like how they've given a time travel/parallel universe film a software programming title...

Are you f*cking kidding me? what jackass wrote this article? It CLEARLY states in the preview that he gets to go 8 minutes before the bomb goes off. Thats what the 8 means jesus christ this site is goin way down in my book
trailertrash writes:
on March 23rd, 2011 at 8:30:40 PM

Mink-

Running time is 94mins so it will be about 88 minutes of film time

Let's hope it gets straight into the action and those count downs will be like the last 20 seconds on the bomb in Goldfinger where they went on for nearly 2 minutes.

Still not sure if i can suffer another J.G movie though.
