"Assassin's Creed" and "Ghost Recon" Movies in the Works?

Posted: March 17th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"AssassinSubmit Comment
Video game company Ubisoft sent out a survey to their users to find out if they would like to see film adaptations of "Assassin's Creed" and "Ghost Recon" games.

The survey starts out with questions about favorite movies, actors and directors, and then gets more specific by asking what users would want in a movie based on "Ghost Recon." Where in the overall timeline should the film take place? Which special Recon teams should the film focus on?

The questions then switch to "Assassin's Creed," asking whether the film should explore Ezio and Subject 16 further, or focus on a new assassin.

How about no. Make it about Altair, he was the original Assassin that the first game was about and what set everything else in motion with the story. If they go the route that is mentioned above then it might as well be a sequel to the game Assassins creed 2. Jackasses. Don't you dare ruin this sh*t or I will personally come down there and kill everyone of you.

^ Well they already made Prince Of Persia i don't know how different this could be a guy jumping around different buildings. If they do it right though it could be OK but yeah make it about Altair use the original story line, as long as it doesn't take it self too seriously could be a literal no brainer.

It's funny how nowadays, video games have incredible storylines and are literally movies themselves and yet Hollywood still finds a way to continue screwing them up on film. I understand before video games were just games and you'd have a bunch of Hollywood writers trying to hash out a story from playing a few hours of a game they may have never even touched before.
But now these games are so solidly written and crafted that all that needs to be done is translate it word for word to the big screen and it will be great. Too bad they have yet to understand this and will eventually take their much anticipated crap over either of these franchises if they were made.

Another video game adaptation? Well, let see how hollywood will f*ck this one up.

They will probably get Marky Mark to star in both. Shame on you Hollywood

Bunny- I think they find the most challenging part is condensing the long story line into a few hours while referencing enough parts of the game to keep the original fans happy. They failed with every adaptation so far and unless they bring in some one who's actually completed or at least played a lot of the game and s also a talented director then it will be the same old sh*t.

i can see a good assassin's creed movie playing out like Batman begins

They just dont get it Game to movie conversions never make their money back , they sink money in to pictures like this yet decent film sequels get shelved because all the actors have now "made it " and out price themselves . Is imagination in hollywood dead that they cant sh*t an original idea these days ? and they wonder why people flock to movies like Inception , the buzz lasted for weeks people ask " Hey have you seen Inception ? " cause it was damn good no one f*cking asked me if i had seen " The Kings Speech " f*ck the stuttering nazi sympathizing c*nt !

Are they trying to win over gamers by adapting these games into movies ?

If so, Hollywood has the largest amount of dumbf*cks, idiots, morons and jackasses that ever deserved a quake, followed by a massave tsunami that turned a majority of them into floating corpses that I've ever seen.

Ghost Recon could make a pretty sweet war thriller.

for Assassins creed will be tough with the story they weave with it I just finished assassin's 2 and the story was cool.

When I hear a story like this, I just think of two words :

Max Payne

Then I sit back and smile at their stupidity.

@Anung un rama

First and foremost, cool avatar!

And you have valid points, however ...
The story premises in games are designed to keep the first person shooter or whatever game interesting ... to build a mythos, as it were with the character ... an example easily to explain my point is Halo and the Master Chief .... or Solid Snake and Metal Gear.
The stories that the developers and designers have created should be suitable enough to keep the gamer, or story enthusiast, interested in the game and in it, they gain an admiraition for it enough to where they become a fan of the genre. It's not unlike comic/graphic book collectors.

The problem is, that when a property gets bought by a movie production company, like Time Warners or Sony, the guys writing on the scripts and the other ones who come in to punch up the dialogue or action or whatever may never have even played these games or had any contact with knowing who the characters are. They are there doing the same thing as a garbage man does when he goes out to pick up garbage, collect a paycheck to pay the rent and the light bill.

Hence, you get movies like ... Max Payne or ... Super Mario Brothers or ... Final Fantasy : Spirits Walk Within ... where it's all nice and showy, but eventually pointless and pathetic.

If you love the games and the story within the games, then that should be enough for you.

@boogiel

Just hire Marky Mark "Cardboard" Wahlberg as the title character. And tell him to act natural.

In terms of f*cking it up, that's a dealclencher.

Are you guys casual wii boys or just high? Because AC 1 was the most boring game ever, and AC2 is pretty much the same. A little bit better but not that much.

Never a good idea to get the 'fans' input on how to make the film. Shows a lack of control and confidence.

If they make Assassin's Creed, make it to the EXACT specifications of the f*cking game! NO MORE PRINCE OF PERSIA mistakes! Keep Disney out of it!

As for Ghost Recon, do it right. Get real operators, that actually served in SOF units for advisory and training. If I see Bradley Cooper, taylor Lautner. Nic Cage and Jason Statham running around with their dogtags hanging out, shirtless, I'll kill somebody.
