Mark Wahlberg is Now Working on "The Fighter" Sequel

Mark Wahlberg is Now Working on "The Fighter" SequelSubmit Comment
Both Melissa Leo and Christian Bale won Oscars for their performances in "The Fighter," but the film took years to get going, mostly because financiers didn't believe it could become a success.

Now that the film has grossed $118 million on a $25 million budget, Mark Wahlberg has been trying to convince everyone that it's a good idea to make a sequel.

He said: "I got bit by the bug, and now Im trying to plant the idea in everyone's head that we should do not five or six [installments] like 'Rocky' but one more because the big thing that Micky Ward was famous for was his three epic battles with Arturo Gatti. So we're talking about possibly taking one more run at it."

Wahlberg never had trouble getting actors attached to "The Fighter," and doesn't believe he's have trouble this time either. "Everybody had such an amazing experience making the movie that I can't imagine they wouldn't want to go back," he explained. "But it's still kind of in the early stages."

Because people watched The Fighter for him, and not Bale or Leo. lol.

You keep milking that cow, Marky Mark, but you better get Bale back or it's your sequel's gonna fail.

Mark Wahlberg was the only cast member that seemed legit.. As well as the other characters were played by their actors. It all felt forced and reeked of oscar bait.. I cant stand sh*t like that...

Same reason i did not like Doubt. These types of films are as bad as Michael Bay blockbusters in the sense that they're, for the most part made with the wrong intentions. Or at least they give you that feeling. No soul, no heart no integrity. Just hire the right people to enact an award winning play or novel and you've got yourself an oscar winner...

Much like the mediocre tale of Doubt.. You hire Meryl Streep and you've got an award winning movie.. Not too mention hoffman..

I mean, I felt that same way all the way through the fighter.. Mark Wahlberg seemed like the only person that gave a sh*t about the project itself and not just wanting to win themselves an award.. Guy wants to make Boxing movies because he likes boxing... I commend Wahlberg for having passion on the project, everyone else involved is a tool.

Marky mark who the f*ck do you think you are,you suck balls along with Dicaprio you must be good in the blowjob department to still get roles.Your brother even though he's a new kid on the block is twice as talented as you and 90% more affordable than you.

@Triggax: That's why I don't like the award season. Just a bunch of movies made for one reason, and one reason only, to win awards. And not only do the juries encourage it, they award it. And it's getting worse for each year.

Didn't see the movie, but they didn't go into the Gatti fights? Those fights made Mickey Ward.

I mean, yeah, those fights made him. It's just the idea of a sequel is what bothers me, like Mink said... Milking. That's all it seems like.

LOL, no one is going to remember this movie a year from now.

It was so overrated. They whitewashed the Mickey Ward character so much. What a wasted opportunity.

No one wants a sequel.
