"The Wolfman" Remake is Actually a Sequel

"The Wolfman" Remake is Actually a SequelSubmit Comment
Bloody-Disgusting recently reported that Universal Pictures is looking to turn "The Wolfman" into a direct-to-DVD franchise, similar to what the studio has done with "Death Race."

The site has now learned that Universal is already in talks with Michael Tabb to write the script for the new installment, which will be a direct sequel to Joe Johnston's "The Wolfman." We don't know much about Tabb, except that he wrote the script for "Ring Around The Rosie," a horror film that went straight to DVD back in 2006.

It's no wonder that Universal isn't interested in developing "The Wolfman" sequel for the big screen. The 2010 film grossed only $140 million globally on a $150 million budget. And has a lousy 33% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

The only thing that would get me to watch is if it was based around Hugo Weaving's character.

There must be some sort of tax write-off thing they can do with movies like this. How else can you explain their desire to make a sequel to a movie that failed at the box office, with critics, and with audiences.

Moral from the first film: Never hire Joe Johnston for director, he screws up everything.

I dont think it was just Joe Johnston. I think he was picked to pick up the pieces from a couple other peoples' mess, but he didn't really contribute to the film. He just pointed the camera and shot.

I think it was just one of those, "get it done as soon as possible by any means." Because they were having so many problems with it.

How the hell do you f*ck up a film revolving around a man that transforms into a f*cking lupine monster? Like the film had no predecessors, so they were just out in the dark with the story. Jesus.

What a bunch of imcompetant morons.

Had they made a film that failed to find an audience yet scored with the critics, well, that would've been respectable, but as someone else said, they failed on every and fronts, and now they want to make a sequel?

Did Wolfman make some serious cash on the DVD/BluRay primary market that I somehow missed?

Mink, you didn't miss anything other than the fact that Hwood will remake, reboot, and make a sequel to just about ANYTHING these days :(
