"Doom" Remake in the Works

Posted: March 9th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Doom" Remake in the WorksSubmit Comment
What's Playing website has learned that Universal Pictures is moving forward with another "Doom" movie and has been meeting with writers. The plan is to make the film for 3D theaters.

The last "Doom" movie, which hit theaters back in 2005 and starred Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, grossed only $28 million domestically on a $60 million budget. It earned another $27 million internationally, which still makes it a major failure.

The plan was always to make a "Doom" sequel, but now the plan is to completely ignore the 2005 film and start from scratch. The goal is take advantage of the popular property and give it the film that it deserves. Stay tuned.

Why does Dwayne Johnson still have an acting career? He was better as a wrestler. The only thing that he choke slams now would be that miracle worker he calls an agent.

@Detrimental
I think he was quite good in "Faster". It was well directed and acted movie.

Aww jeez, yet another pointless reboot and pointless movie in general.

Ah, I remember I always wondered what the folks at WP thought of this movie.

Too bad it sucked which kept me from remembering it.

Oh, ok, Doom gets another film but Half Life hasn't had one?

The first one made a nice coaster for my glasses of beer .... otherwise, it was rather useless.

Recyled sh*t is now Hollywods new name.

The goal is take advantage of the popular property and give it the film that it deserves .... in the year 4025, when most of the selective moviegoing audience has died, leaving mainly morons.

the man responsible for this sh*t of a movie is called Andrzej Bartkowiak.He might of taken notes from Uwe Boll cause he's also known for failures like Romeo must die,Cradle to the grave and another video game failure called Street fighter the legend of Chun Li which makes the first Street fighter with Van Douche look like an oscar worthy movie.

Hopefully they learned their lesson and take his sh*t directing talent back to Poland.
Not even 6 years later and theyre considering a reboot AWESOME

@BadChadB33

Well, with all the charitable causes celebrities endorse (to save what little souls they have left after whoring, murdering and binging on all drugs developed by man), Hollywood must decide it has to go "green" with its stories by recycling them ....

besides, they say diseased and infected feces is green too.

The funniest part of Doom was the cast list. The Rock, Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, and Raz Adoti. It was like, "who the f*ck is Raz Adoti???!!!!". Well, thanks to the movie we'll never know.

Although "Doom" was a groundbreaking game back when it was released and it's said to be one of the best games ever released on PC I still think it doesn't have enough for being a good film, not even decent. I just can't see how they'd pull it off..

And what comes to Dwayne Johnson, I personally think he is pretty good. For example "Be Cool" (which isn't even good), I thought he was the best thing about it. He has just been in crappy films, that's all. I think he can pull of a good performance if he has the chance. And to add to that I really think he is a great person too when I've watched him giving interviews in talk shows. He's a pretty funny guy.. IMO.

I know that a lot of people hated Doom, but for me, it's a guilty pleasure. That being said, I don't approve for a sequel for several reasons:

The ending was definitive. I know that means jack sh*t in Hollywood, but still, there were no loose ends.

They gonna ignore the first, which means no Karl Urban. No Urban, no go.

And we just learned that the BioShock movie is no more, but this can get made. Not cool, dude, not cool.

I never see the harm in remaking/rebooting bad movies that have potential.

Is Doom even relevant anymore?
bspence writes:

idk. videogame to movie adapts are always so horrible. the only ones id like to see done (ONLY IF RIGHT) is mortal kombat and halo.

i see this being like the first resident evil and silent hill movies. watchable but under the radar to the majority of film goers compared to other films at least.
