"Voltron" Movie Becoming a Reality

Posted: March 9th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Voltron" Movie Becoming a RealitySubmit Comment
NY magazine is reporting that a bidding war has broken out to finance a big screen version of "Voltron: Defender of the Universe," a big-budget re-telling of the legend of the robotic lions and their human pilots.

Producer Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) has been developing the script with writers Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, who recently penned the script for "Conan the Barbarian" remake.

One bidder is Relativity Media, which has been rescuing lots of gestating projects like "The Fighter." If everything proceeds as planned, audiences may see "Voltron" on the big screen as early as 2013 or 2014 at the latest.

Check out the previously leaked concept art for the film below.

I doubt that they will make this one right. It'll end-up as another power rangers' crap. Hollywood is very well known to screw up a good and classic material, including anime.

haha it will never happen. I remember when people thought 1-18-08 was Voltron but turned out to be Cloverfield. Don't get too excited. f*ck a Voltron movie.

Clearly this is after my days in comics (or wherever this character came from). He looks like a mean ROM Spaceknight. Am I right?

Damn, another 'big baddies battle big goodie' in downtown New York. I mean, haven't hackensteins Bay and Emmerich does this disaster sub-genre to cinematic death?

Could be worse... the way Hollywood f*cks things up I'm surprised they aren't doing the 47 vehicle VOLTRON version.

Let's hope this ends up better than ROBOT-JOX.

"I'm surprised they aren't doing the 47 vehicle VOLTRON version."

No sh*t. They'd go the Harry Potter route and make a film for each vehicle...

"Let's hope this ends up better than ROBOT-JOX."

...you mean a DVD reease, right, and not stuck on VHS?

Robot-Jox --- so much potential. Too much suckage!

I loved this cartoon as a kid but even then i knew it weas a terrible show with a thin plot. just form the blazing sword when the monster comes...kill it...and have a good twenty minutes left in the show and bang the princess. Plus the show is sooooo japanese. like all the other ranger shows it takes 5 good guys to beat up one bad guy. who is the bull bully here?

What the f*ck? All this years, Voltes V was the first robot to grace the anime world long before Voltron ruled TV. Voltron has the same story as Voltes V. f*ck Voltron movie!!!
