"Tomb Raider" Reboot Coming in 2013

Posted: March 8th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Tomb Raider" Reboot Coming in 2013Submit Comment
Producer Graham King (The Town, The Departed) and his GK Films has acquired the feature film rights to "Tomb Raider" with plans of rebooting the franchise and releasing the first movie in theaters by 2013.

King recently produced "The Tourist," which starred Angelina Jolie. Many are wondering if Jolie may return to star as Lara Croft, but sources say that King is interested in telling Lara Croft's origin story rather than continue where the last installment left off.

A writer has yet to be hired.

"Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" hit theaters back in 2001 and grossed $274 million worldwide on a $115 million budget. The sequel was released two years later and grossed $156 million on a $95 million budget.

It's good that WP is keeping us a breast of the situation regarding the new Tombraider movie.
avaela writes:

It will probably star Megan Fox and bomb at the box office worse than Jonah Hex

Im glad they're not getting Jolie back she really went down the pan in Salt with her 10 year old girl- type body, when she played Lara originally she put on some weight and looked f*cking amazing. Also they better get an english actress to play lara im fed up of hearing dodgy accents.

They gonna need an actress with big boobs who can really act. Anybody know one?

Blunt or Wilde would be fine, says my d*ck.

"They gonna need an actress with big boobs who can really act. Anybody know one?"

Two words "Kim Kardashian"

I've only seen her in one movie, and "acting" was GREAT :)

Rhona Mitra

"A writer has yet to be hired."

Ten bucks says it'll stay that way even after the film hit the theaters.

Olive Wilde might actually be the perfect choice...

@Rambo: TITS is why Lara is "famous", TITS. The lack of those is not appreciated for the role.

Bunny X writes:

Do we even need this? The game isn't even anywhere near relevant anymore. And they've tried reboot that like twice already.
Shame because Croft was one of the few female video game stars.
Ehh, just let it be and focus on something else.
elrei writes:
on March 8th, 2011 at 10:40:34 AM

There's a new game in the works with the same idea, a younger Lara. So this kinda makes sense..

Jolie is no longer right for this role.

@cblackwell: I like that choice.

The Tomb Raider games are completly useless for us gamers, we have Nathan Drake now.

minkowski writes:

As Bunny said, they're rebooting a dead game franchise after two failed movie adaptations, both if which featured Angelina Jolie, so the question is: how relevant is Tombraider, given that no one cares for the first films and hardly anyone plays the games, old or new?

Besides, whoever thought a game ike Tombraider would translate well into a film anyway? She runs, she jumps. That's it.
LastActionHero writes:

Neither Emily Blunt or Olivia Wilde can fill the bra.

No, but I can fill Emilia Blunt and Olivia Wilde like a Twinkie two-pack.

If they played it right and rebooted it with an origin story, they could potentially have this generation's Indiana Jones on their hands.
Potentially... but not likely.

TR will never ever be as good as IJ because IJ is seminal and paved the way for TR, which is just a cheap videogame knock off featuring big-titted female lead.

Some things come once and only once and never again, and IJ is just such a thing.

Mr. Blonde writes:

I can't wait for Hollywood to Reboot a Reboot. This would be Lara Croft's big tittie Mother going on an adventure to find some lost mystical treasure which ends by her getting f*cked wild and knocked up with Lara.

Hey @Mink - this would be your "Womb Raider".
minkowski writes:

So any time there's a delay of 3 or more years between a sequel or an actor/actress is replaced it's automatically called a 'reboot' ?
vwkombi writes:
