"Mad Max" Sequels to Begin Filming in January

"Mad Max" Sequels to Begin Filming in JanuarySubmit Comment
We haven't heard anything about the upcoming "Mad Max" sequels ("Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Mad Max: Furiosa"), which will be shot back-to-back, for a while. But now comes word that production is ready to go.

"We've built the vehicles," said director George Miller. "We've designed the movie. The principal cast is locked in. The film is funded. It's all ready to go. We just wait. We really had nowhere to shoot."

The plan is to begin filming in January of 2012 due to the unpredictable rains that have temporarily ruined the desert of the Australian outback. Once everything clears up, cameras will begin rolling. Tom Hardy (Inception) stars as the title character.

I think Hardy will make a pretty good Max.

Always felt the 1st two movies were better than the 3rd.

They had that more gritty feel to them, part 3 seemed to me like they were aiming at a wider audience and using a bigger bugdet plus the fact Tina Turner was in it was a major fail IMO.

"RUIN" the desert, lol, Hollywood hates green fields.

We don't need another hero.

This is the Mad Max Sequel called Fury Road. Where Max spends the entire movie looking for hairy post-apocalyptic chicks. Oh, that would be Furry Road. And seeing this is Hardy...

Can anyone name 2 films shot back to back that didn't suck?

^didn't they shoot LOTR trilogy back to back?

and back to the future 2+3 were pretty good although 3 was not on the same level as 1 and 2

Think they did shoot LOTR principal photography all in one go rambo and then worked on the effects for each movie as they released them.

Back to the future 2 and 3 good call. Only other films i can think of are Kill Bill 1 and 2 but they decided to turn that into 2 films once they started (i think)and Pirates 2 and 3 but they weren't all that.

Generally, shooting back to back means two things: they're trying to save money up front in order to make more money later and that production is on a necessarily comparatively rushed timeline. Neither of these conditions translates into 'good film'.

But really, you guys have hope for a Mad Max film, made decades after the orginal, starring Tom Hardy?

When they shoot these films back to back the second film always seems to be the weaker of the 2 for some reason. Wonder if everyone involved is getting a little bored with the project.

The new Mad Max got to have a little hope mink, They are making it now anyway and it can't turn out any worse than Thunderdome.
