Video: Peter Weller Wants a RoboCop Statue in Detroit Posted: March 1st, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Detroit Mayor recently asked his Twitter followers for suggestions on how to improve the city. He got lots of replies, including one from a Massachusetts resident, who proposed putting up a RoboCop statue similar to the Rocky one in Philadelphia. The idea was backed by many people, but the Mayor didn't see the benefits of a RoboCop statue, so he quickly rejected it. As a result, backers of the idea took it to KickStarter to raise the $50,000 they believe is necessary to build the statue. Now RoboCop himself, actor Peter Weller, has come out with a video that's a message for Detroit. Watch it below.

Wow, Pete ...
You went from Buckaroo Banzai and RoboCop to this. I'm really suprised you haven't landed the lead role in a Bum Fights video.....
How the arrogant have fallen....

If there were a 'Like' button here, I'd push it. I'll be honest, I don't know much about the guy. But the video was funny! Kudos for people wanting to get him erect in stone!

@ Nihilistic Michael Maus
He had a good stint on 24 in Season.....5 or 6....I can't remember. But regardless...he did something in the 2000's.

We have the money and the statue is happening, actually since before this video came out.

hah they should just make a statue of Peter Weller, @WV-Films- he was on season 5, he tore it up that season.
minkowski writes: on March 1st, 2011 at 3:44:02 PM
Dunno if he tore of season 5, he wasn't in it that much, and it's hard to do much of anything on that screen with Bauer torturing everyone within walking distance, but he's a decent actor.
As for Robocop in Detroit, well, if any city needed cyborg crime control, Detroit is it.
Also, if Weller really cared about the statue, he'd fund the measly 50k himself, but aparently putting on a dumb costume for his own PR works more in his favor. I wouldn't be surprised if the man admitted not giving one sh*t about the city.
As for revitalizing Detroit, good luck. You need jobs, so you need businesses, so either start making something, or beg foreign investors to open up shop.

Well they've already funded and met their pledge for it. Weeks ago: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/imaginationstation/detroit-needs-a-statue-of-robocop
So it's been said and done, I think. Or said and happening. This video is all after the fact, so it's not exactly "Peter Weller Wants a Robocop Statue", WP.

But 1 cyborg wont be enough a thousand is a good start
Along with 10,000 bulldozers to tear down every building and rebuild over
Keep the unions out and the economy might get a kick start with 1000's of people getting construction jobs that results in a cleaner yet safer city (safer thinks to the cyborgs).

Agreed, crazy, Detroit is one of America's lost cities.
