Trailer: New "ThunderCats" Animated TV SeriesSubmit Comment
Warner Bros will be premiering its new "ThunderCats" animated TV series later this year on Cartoon Network. Today we have the trailer for the show, which first aired at Cartoon Network's Hall of Game Awards. Check it out below.

Series description: A sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O's ascension to the throne and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode.

Using Japanese animated artistry of anime, "ThunderCats" characters Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, Panthro, Cheetara and others will spring off the screen with realistic cat-like characteristics inconceivable in previous incarnations.

Hope it will be better than "He Man and The Master Of The Universe" remake.

It was well drawn and concived but it was killed by awfull and slow editing and sometimes archaic writing. He-man deserves another chance.

So... another generation, who'd like to f*ck Cheetara and kill Snarf.

If they feel like they have to bite off Japanese anime I guess they did it well. It looks very reminiscent of Samurai Champloo, which was amazing artistically.

Looks as boring as f*ck.

I thought my dad wouldn't be happy about it, but he said it actually looks good. Really surprising.

Not too shabby. Looks infinitely better than that CGI movie footage earlier.

Could exceed the orginal storywise if they use a plot arc rather than standalone episodes (should do that with a Transformers GI reboot), but the art looks like garbage.

No style, all derivative anime imitation.

I mean, wtf, can't American's animate their own damned cartoons in their own damned style? So sick of the whole Escaflowne/Gunslinger Girl/Sailor Moon look. As an artform, it's DEAD.

..ONE! This looks epic and I highly approve.
..TWO! This has NOTHING Anime'related in design whatsoever. It's an American advancement in cartoons, but perhaps no one's been keeping up with that other than me. (Ben 10, Young Justice, etc.) It's a type of emboldened characterization of human personification supported by super-abilities. Not the blended reality of focusing through a human lens anime design while forcing the willing-of-belief with their eccentric capitalization.
..THREE! Anyone gone from Classic Thundercats, to epic appreciation (ask for definition if it's really needed), and now back to this, will understand its value & awesome'ity. Unfortunately, babbitt wankers raised on the Classics only to lord over new gen. with condescent can only comment with predetermined disgust of the series.
..FIVE! It's only folly might be tweens who hate cats will avoid this show.

"This has NOTHING Anime'related in design whatsoever. It's an American advancement in cartoons, but perhaps...with their eccentric capitalization."

It looks just like a anime variation. It looks like Transformers Gay-nimated. And all the other retarded cartoons for prebuscent drysacs that are taking over more traditional cartoon venues.

The only thing this has going for it is perhaps a better story arc...

Wow, this looks worse than that 80's animation sh*t produced by that Fisher Price animation company, DIC.

minkowski writes:

Oh god, DIC, yeah, they did Inspector Gadget I believe, and that was their high-water mark! Good call Maus.
rabid writes:

I don't see how they're biting anime-style considering the first Thundercats toon was anime.
minkowski writes:

The original Thundercats doesn't look anime to me, especially not the neo-emo anime style seen everywhere. Instead, it looks like Heman, they just have cats eyes which might give the impression it's anime, but nothing I can see indicates it's Japanimation.

Even if it is, its old school back when things still looked good.
