Michael Fassbender Says He's an Android in "Alien" Prequel

Michael Fassbender Says HeSubmit Comment
When Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) first joined the cast of Ridley Scott's upcoming "Alien" prequel, called "Prometheus," his character was described as an early version of Bishop 341-B android that Lance Henriksen played in "Aliens."

Since 20th Century Fox gave Scott permission to make an original sci-fi film, rather than an "Alien" prequel, there is no telling how the role has changed. So Entertainment Weekly went right to the source and asked Fassbender if he will play an android.

"I don't know what I can say," the actor said with a laugh. He then looked down at the tape-recorder and nodded affirmatively. "I don't want to get into trouble."

Regarding the film, he said: "It's a different story, but it's also got the traditional roots. 'Alien' fans will recognize things in it. It's not ignoring 'Alien,' there's still a link to that world. But it's a different story. It's definitely connected, though."

If this proceeds the aliens we know, then wouldn't Fassbender's character be better described has an early version of Ash the android from the first Alien film? I'm just saying :)

Ok, I'm confused. Is this movie acting as if the original movies never existed? Or is this really a prequel but they are choosing not to call it a prequel?

I just hope this is not a let down.

It's a prequel in the same fictional universe, but they are just going to tell a different story that is not completely focused in the aliens from the other movies. Or that's what I've understood.

Yeah, give Craig two more then bow out.I would love for them to reboot the whole franchise and redo the books all set in the 60's.

Fassbender as Bond directed by Nolan = Happy Rocket!

Thanks Leon that sounds like it could be right.

Would they have the balls to remake/reboot the old Bond movies and set them in the 60's, I Wonder if the success of Casino Royale would put pay to that idea.

Nolan directing would be Awesome, same as i would like to see Danny Boyle direct Bond also.

In fact Bond should always be directed by a Brit....

What's the point on posting these news? It was already stated when Fassbender was cast, obviously he'll be another Bishop tipo android

Ridley Scott hasn't made a good movie since Gladiator. I think he is selling the use of his name for projects, and this one is no exception...maybe.

Black Hawk Down, Matchstick Men and American Gangster are very good movies and would be major career highs for a lot of directors working today.

But i guess when your 1st 2 or 3 films you make include Alien and Bladerunner, They are very tough acts to live up to.

Matchstick Men, American Gangster and Black Hawk Down were entirely forgettable...I only know what occurred during BHD because I know the actual history of events.

Technoreaper is right, the guy hasn't made an amazing film since Gladiator.

"Nolan directing would be Awesome, same as i would like to see Danny Boyle direct Bond also."

Boyle, yes, Nolan hell no. Bond should be human, not some cardboard stiff with a bad attitude.

The last film of Nolan's that featured people instead of cold, humorless puppets was Memento. Boyle, on the proverbial second hand, knows how to make a character real and warm. And he has heart and art.

Hell, Boyle would probably be too good for Bond.

"They are very tough acts to live up to."

Especially when you stop trying...

"Ok, I'm confused. Is this movie acting as if the original movies never existed? Or is this really a prequel but they are choosing not to call it a prequel?"

It's called a sidequel.
