"Justin Bieber" Director to Helm "GI Joe" SequelPosted: February 26th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Paramount Pictures has been looking at two directors as candidates to helm its upcoming "GI Joe" sequel. The first is F. Gary Gray, the man behind such films as "Law Abiding Citizen" and "The Italian Job." The other is Jon Chu, known for "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" and the last two "Step Up" movies.
Seems like an easy decision, but Paramount has announced that it is now in final negotiations with Chu. Part of the reason may be the success of "Never Say Never," which has already grossed over $53 million on a $13 million budget.
THR has also learned that some of the main "GI Joe" roles may have to be recast. While Channing Tatum is expected to return as Duke, it is unclear if Joseph Gordon-Levitt will return as one of the villains. Insiders say Sienna Miller is also unlikely to return, with her Baroness role being recast or perhaps divided into a couple of new characters.

First of all: The Bieber-movie would have grossed the same amount of money even if a retarded pet-rock directed it.
And second: we all know this would happen. The first movie was only a moderate success. They won't toss a larger amount of money on it. The get their money's worth, they go with the cheaper director.
Any actor with some self-respect will not reappear. JGL would likely just forget the whole ordeal.

I think this is a good opportunity to bitch about: why the studios are giving 100+ million movies to rookie directors? It cannot be jus money right, right??? WP help me out here, make some actual jurnalism and make an article

Can't wait for the Shipwreck/Duke/Flint hip-hop dance number, with Roadblock doing the choreographer.

What, no retroactive love for Stephen Sommers' original GI JOE film? Come on! With this news there has to be someone out there who enjoyed the first film as much as me! The original film was a pure cheese-fest, but it was cheesy FUN. This one sounds like it's gonna have a lot of f*cking breakdancing and will be all the worse for it. And you know it will be filmed in 3-D as well even tho they haven't announced it yet.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. stupid ppl making stupid decisions. the original was a fun movie, sommers knows how to make a cool silly action flick theres no reason not to bring him back! just cuz you make a stupid movie for next to nothing doesnt mean you can make an expensive movie and make it entertaining, this is terrible news
