DJ Caruso to Direct "Preacher" Comic Book Movie

DJ Caruso to Direct "Preacher" Comic Book MovieSubmit Comment
"I Am Number Four" only has a 30% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes, but director DJ Caruso has just signed a deal with Columbia Pictures to helm "Preacher."

"My deal just closed on 'Preacher.' Going back to the dark side and pretty f*cking pumped," Caruso confirmed on his Twitter account.

Based on the popular 1990s DC/Vertigo series, the story revolves around a Texas preacher with immense powers, who teams up with a former girlfriend and a hard-drinking Irish vampire and sets out on a journey across America to find God -- who apparently had abandoned his duties in heaven -- and hold him accountable for his negligence.

Though Preacher would work maybe as a Tv show but sure as f*ck not a movie.

TV series or no go. Too much material to be a good movie even with a good director. FX, HBO, Showtime, AMC, etc. TV is where it's at these days, but with a story as long and complex as Preacher it deserves the time a TV series provides. The only way to do it right.

Raise your hand if you're looking forward to the obscene levels of controversy this movie will generate from religious groups.

I'll remember you how you were Preacher, before every 8 year old was wearing a shirt of the actor that portrays Jesse/Cassidy/St of Killers

Hard R or get out

DJ Caruso isn't a reliable director. He tries too hard to be Michael Bay and can't do it. The only movie he made that worked was The Salton Sea and Disturbia (and I know I'm in a minority saying that Disturbia was good).

After Eagle Eye and I Am Number Four, I can't trust him.

Preacher is awesome! Definitely one of my favs, but this guy is gonna f*ck it up for sure. Lets hope for a reboot in 3 years!!!

@mrstretch
Caruso is no ones top choice but he's a big step up when you consider the fact Mark Steven Johnson was attached at one point

Agree this should be a TV series and not an awful hack job sh*theap of a movie by Caruso.

Just keep shia la douhe out of this movie.

I can see Jesse telling these guys to go f*ck themselves. And meaning it this time.

God Lord! As a tv-series this could've work, but as a movie? No. Too complex and too controversial. They will edit the f*ck out of the story and nothing will remain.
DJ Caruso is a director for hire. He lends nothing from himself, he just tries to make his movies look bigger budget than they are.

It's a sad day indeed.

At least I know Adam McKay won't f*ck up The Boys.
This Preacher adaptation is probably going to be a generic pos like Constantine.

Why is a DJ making films, he should stay behind the decks...

i'm not sure how they'll get this all in one movie...
LordDeathMan writes:

Preacher is literally one of the greatest comics of all time. This decision is totally f*cked.

Who wants to see a pg-13 Preacher I sure dont. Our luck it'll be like constantine and that was sh*t.
