Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk) has signed on to direct "Now You See Me" thriller for Summit Entertainment. The new movie is written by Boaz Yakin (Prince of Persia, The Punisher) and Edward Ricourt.

"Now You See Me" pits a crack FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against a super-team of the world's greatest illusionists, who pull off a series of daring bank heists during their performances, showering the profits on their audiences while staying one step ahead of the law.

"Louis has pulled off the amazing feat of entertaining worldwide audiences more than a few times," said Summit. "We look forward to his continuing the streak on 'Now You See Me.'"

FBI Raids Warehouse of Las Vegas Illusionist David Copperfield

Updated: Aug 20, 2009 11:18 AM CDT

Jonathan Humbert, Reporter

David Copperfield, famed illusionist and Las Vegas regular, appears to be the target of a late night FBI raid.

A dozen FBI agents stormed Copperfield's warehouse near West Russell and Valley View and came away with evidence for an investigation reaching all the way to Seattle.

A source close to the investigation last night tells Eyewitness News that 12 Seattle FBI agents descended on the warehouse and took a computer hard drive and a memory chip from a digital camera system. The source also says there was nearly $2 million in cash stuffed away inside a safe in the warehouse. Agents are said to have taken that cash.

Eyewitness News tried to get more information from the warehouse office staff, but they quickly told us to leave and closed the gate behind us.

As for the Seattle connection, the FBI office did confirm they conducted an investigation in Las Vegas, but would not say if Copperfield was the target at the warehouse. A spokesperson tells Eyewitness News that out of state agents are involved when tips or leads originate from their area, proving there was some connection between Seattle and Copperfield's warehouse.

However, the raid didn't end there. The Las Vegas FBI office confirmed agents also went to the MGM-Grand. Copperfield often performs there as a home base every other month. The FBI confirmed the MGM-Grand was not the target, but said nothing about what they found at the hotel. MGM-Grand had no comment.

Copperfield's attorney, David Chesnoff issued a statement, though, again confirming the raid. He wrote, "We understand there is an investigation, (we) are in touch with the investigators, and are respecting the confidentiality of the investigation."

Meanwhile, the illusionist waits for the outcome of the investigation -- an investigation that appears as mysterious and complex as some of Copperfield's amazing tricks.

Copperfield is scheduled to perform at the MGM-Grand in mid November. He has a lengthy tour of Indonesia planned for next week.

Looks like a failed cross between Ocean's 11 and Takers.

"The new movie is written by Boaz Yakin"

Damn, well then, consider my ticket instantly punched.

@Nihilistic Michael Maus That was part of an investigation into (bogus) rape allegations against David Copperfield. The girl was just a con artist:
