James Franco and Mila Kunis Board "Wizard of Oz" Prequel

James Franco and Mila Kunis Board "Wizard of Oz" PrequelSubmit Comment
Mila Kunis has signed on to star in "The Wizard of Oz" prequel, called "Oz: The Great and Powerful" and will be directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man). Now that Kunis is on board, James Franco decided to sign on as well. He will play the young wizard.

"Oz" tells the story of the origins of the Wizard, and the infamous witches like Glinda, who becomes the Good Witch of the North, and Evanorah, who becomes the Wicked Witch of the East.

Kunis will play Theodorah, the younger sister of Evanorah who goes on to become the Wicked Witch of the West and, of course, to cackle iconic lines like, "I'll get you, my pretty ... and your little dog, too!"

Although I like the talent in this (Raimi, Franco and, yes, even Kunis) I'm still sure that this will be good.

Saw 127 Hours recently and why Franco isn't a front runner for an Oscar is beyond me.

Raimi and Franco working together. Why does Peaches and Herb "Reunited and it feels so good" song come to mind?

Bit strange how they had Robert Downey Jr linked to the role then Johnny Depp all of a sudden they go younger with James Franco. Got nothing against him hes just a lot younger.

Franco signed on the project ONLY to be able to bang Kunis for a couple of months in his celebrity trailer........

....can you take pictures please ?

This should be decent, with Franco as the Wizard and Kunis as a witch or whatever. I see the potential for Raimi to bring his darkness to a the imaginary land of magic that is OZ, and he has the right and staeady hand to deliver even performances that will do the original film credit.

I still believe, though, that if they're going to do reboots, they should have the balls to reboot the original film, perhaps even going for a set of films following the books. If they can do that for Potter and more limitedly for Narnia, then why not for Baum's works?

There's quite a bit of natural variance in his books, among the characters and stories, so it's not a flat universe with which to work, so a screenwriter wouldn't have to invent on the demand to fill in plot holes and character deficiences.
