Disney Making "Cars" Spin-Off Without Pixar

Disney Making "Cars" Spin-Off Without PixarSubmit Comment
DisneyToon Studios has announced that it is working on "Planes," a full-length CG animated "Cars" spin-off that will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in Spring of 2013. While it will be an extension of the "Cars" world, Pixar will not be involved.

Plot: "Planes" takes off with an international cast of the fastest air racers around, in a comedy packed with action and adventure starring Dusty, a small town dreamer who longs to enter the most epic around-the-world air race despite his fear of heights. With the help and support of a fleet of new and hilarious characters, Dusty wings his way into the biggest challenge of his life.

"We had such a great time exploring the world of 'Cars' over the course of two films, so it seemed only natural for us to see where our imaginations would take us in a film where planes were the main characters," said John Lasseter.

No Pixar? Automatic failure.

OMG, I was just joking that they should make a 'planes' film, and then I read this so-called news and lo and behold, my worst fear of the say was realized! Jesus, that was creepy. And sad. Because I would never have seriously expected a aerial spin-off to Pixar's worst film.

And I assume the 'Planes Trains and Automobiles' CG ensemble film isn't too far behind.

This isn't the first news of Planes. Just Disney's first hint of breaking up with Pixar.

I guess Thomas the train is a cars spin off too?

Yeah, and like with any divorce, the bitch gets at least half.

"I guess Thomas the train is a cars spin off too?"

African animists believe that all things possess souls and are capable of communication. So expect a 'Rocks' film soon. Taters and Shia are already on call.

Disney Making "Cars" Spin-Off Without Pixar .... They would make "Trains" but who needs to watch a wreck at the crossing for two, two and a half hours.

It's nice to see Disney pissing money down the toilet.

@minkowski

I don't know. I think playing a rock is a bitch of a stretch for those method artists.

@minkowski

I think that in the line of business Disney is in, Pixar is actually the former "bottom bitch".

When a plot describes how 'hilarious' the characters are, usually means theyre as funny as Lohan is sexy. Plus, Cars 2 looks like a spin-off in itself. A really sh*tty spin-off.

So basically it is "Cars" but with wings.

Me thinks someone has been drinking too much Red Bull...well I guess someone had to make the lame joke.
