"Captain America" Sequel in the Works, Plus TV Spot Becomes More American

"Captain America" Sequel in the Works, Plus TV Spot Becomes More AmericanSubmit Comment
The response to the "Captain America: The First Avenger" Super Bowl TV spot was so positive that Marvel has already started work on the sequel by bringing back "Captain America" writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus to write the script.

This isn't much of a surprise since Chris Evans is signed to appear in nine Marvel films. The story will likely take place after the events in "The Avengers" and will set up "The Avengers" sequel.

Meanwhile, someone apparently got tired of "Captain America" becoming a more international hero and changing the title to "The First Avenger" in some foreign countries. As a result, we now have a new version of the TV spot that's slightly edited and mixed with the music from "Team America: World Police." Watch it below.

It has a sequal because of the large response from a 30sec trailer?

'It has a sequal because of the large response from a 30sec trailer?'

they always say that to make us believe they think the movie is so good that they already plan a sequel.

If there is an Avengers sequel, let's see how many of the stars of the first return with Marvels cheap ass.

I'm not american and I think this trailer is a billion times cooler than the real one. XD

The producers should seriously use this trailer to promote the movie, specially in the USA.

They were probably already working on a sequel for this. This movie won't flop, it's going to make enough money to warrant a sequel, most Marvel movies do (with the exception of Elektra or the Punisher movies). And I don't see Captain America not making its budget bad considering the prominence of his characters alone.

If this were to air in the US, it would be so censored that we might as well be watching a black screen with Bieber singing softly in the background.

I'm curious to know if they will give Mr. Evan a raise to appear in the sequel or will he only make $100 grand per movie?

Joe Johnston would still be suitable for a sequel. It should be someone who can direct with a nostalgic feel, even when Cap's in the modern era.
And Johnston is a pretty decent director, so nobody else really comes to mind... maybe Andrew Niccol?
I really don't get what people have against Johnston.

@rabid

His doesn't have a distinct style. His movies are usually good and competently made but nothing more.

He is a skilled craftsman - it's not necessarly a bad thing - it's just that all latest movies - be it Hidalgo or Wolfman - are a bit synthetic, pipelined.
