"Saw" Creator to Develop Two Horror Films Per Year

"Saw" Creator to Develop Two Horror Films Per YearSubmit Comment
"Saw" creator James Wan (Insidious, Death Sentence, Dead Silence) has signed an eight picture deal with Icon Entertainment. Under the agreement, he will produce two horror films per year, most of which will be low budget.

"I wanted to have the creative freedom and the ability to work with really artistic filmmakers who can help me bring an original and innovative style of genre films to the public," said Wan. "Paradigm paved the way for this and we have chosen to partner with Icon who are a perfect fit for us."

Wan has already decided that "House of Horror" will be the first film to go into production under the new agreement. The script is written by Max La Bella from an original story by Wan. Javier Gutierrez (Before the Fall) is attached to direct.

What, spawning one of the worst franchises in existence wasn't enough? But damn, the man has some talent, I hate to see him go the hack-for-cash route.

@mink: I agree, the guy has alot of talent that he hasn't realized.

The first Saw was a great film, and Death Sentence was pretty good.

Dead Silence was trash but still showed he could direct.

so making a horror film every year wasn't enough, now they have to make two a f*cking year? f*ck that. but then again i'm a huge saw fan i'll watch it ...

Yeah, Dead Silence was bad, and yeah, he can still direct, that was just a weak script. He made up for it in Death Sentence. Good flick.

I dont think he's sellin' out, taking a deal to make low butget films gives him more creative control so he will be doing whatever he wants not the studio

With you guys on that one, first "Saw" was great, something new in the horro genre also "Death Sentance" was/is a another great movie Kevin Bacon was excelent too, "Dead Silence" was a nice fun little scary movie, saw it with a friend of mine, both loved it and what made it more fun was that it scared most of the audience while we were having a great time laughing at them.

Like to see what else he can do.

Saw was a good film. but they took it too overboard with popping one right after the other. its like wtf is this. the old mans dead, he's not dead.
