Update: Studio Rejects "Die Hard 5" Script, Daniel Espinosa May DirectSubmit Comment
NY magazine has learned that "Die Hard 5" is not doing as well as Bruce Willis has been saying. 20th Century Fox apparently didn't like the most recent draft of the script by Skip Woods (The A-Team, Wolverine, Swordfish). He will attempt to re-write it while Willis is interviewing directors. At the top of his list is Daniel Espinosa, a Swedish helmer who is making his English-language directing debut on "Safe House," which stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.

Update: Deadline has learned that 20th Century Fox has hired Noam Murro (Smart People) to direct "Die Hard 5."

Since "Die Hard 5" will likely not be ready to go into production for a while, Willis is looking at other projects and is now in negotiations star alongside Rebecca Hall (The Prestige) in "Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog," a big screen adaptation of Beth Raymer's best-seller "Lay the Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling."

The story is about Raymer's rise from lowly Vegas cocktail waitress to one of the top sports gambling bookmakers. If cast, Willis will play the part of Dink Heimowitz, a cranky ex-New York bookmaker who mentored Raymer. The role has been described as "lovable, irascible, and big-bellied," which means that Willis may have to put on some weight.

Thank god. I can't believe Woods still even has a career after Wolverine.

It's a shame his screenplays always turn into sh*tty movies. "Thursday" was a great little movie.

There's always Joe Carnahan.

And Bruce is not getting any younger.

they need a writer who loves the first and second diehard movie to write the script for the 5th one. They also need to bring back allen. this movie also better be rated r for f*ck sake.

Well if the movie won't be starting for a while, They can sort the script out and wait for John McTiernan to direct. Not sure Daniel Espinosa is the right man for this Job.

stop making Die Hard films, or at least get a god plot (which they apparently have not done).

Has anyone seen Noam Murro's IMDB page? That's scary.

When it seemed like they had just made a good decision, they just made another bizarre one. While thankfully, Len Wiseman is gone, Skip Woods is still on board.

I just refuse to see any Fox movie unless it is a Searchlight film.

If they chose Shane Black, I'm in on that, or as trailer said they could just wait for John McTiernan.

I'm not trying to talk sh*t but, regular joe gets stuck in a building while burglars are making an extreme robbery, next thing you know he decides to blow away all the bad guys in the building.

I don't think this franchise was one for plots.

the only guy who should direct 'die hard 5' is in jail now.

Write a good script and give it to Mctiernan as soon as he's out of jail.

Shane Black agreed.
