Ryan Gosling to Star in "Logan's Run" Remake

Posted: February 11th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Ryan Gosling to Star in "LoganSubmit Comment
Producer Joel Silver recently revealed that work on the "Logan's Run" remake may begin soon, despite failing to move forward with such directors as Bryan Singer and Carl Rinsch.

now comes word that Warner Bros is finalizing a deal with Ryan Gosling to star in the new film that will be directed by his "Drive" helmer Nicolas Winding Refn (Valhalla Rising, Bronson). Filming is set to begin in the fall.

"Logan's Run" is set in a future society that demands the death of everyone upon reaching a certain age. Anyone who veers from that destiny is dubbed a "runner" and is hunted by operatives known as Sandmen. Logan is a Sandman who is forced to go on the run.

Although Valhalla Rising godawful, Refn made that mistake up with Bronson and there's no denying he's an interesting director. Could be fun to look at his take at this.

They already remade Logans Run... its called The Island... and it sucked balls. The originals a classic i was hoping that Singer gave it a go but its another film thats better off being left alone.

Gosling should've had a Best Actor nomination for his work in BLUE VALENTINE, and I really like this director, so... I'm fine with this.

I wouldn't mind seeing him branch out and do something more commercial like this, he's capable of a lot more than just the indie dramas.

@Cinemaisdead Not only is The Island pretty good but it's a remake of Parts: The Clonus Horror not Logan's Run. (And the only real similarity between The Island and Logan's Run is that they're sci-fi's featuring a man and a woman running away from a colony, but for different reasons.) Unfortunately for DreamWorks they remade it without permission (ie ripped it off) so they got sued by the makers of Parts: The Clonus Horror and ended up settling out of court.

I want to see this guy in some sort of spy film, I reckon he could be convincing.

Logans Run has already inspired so many clones that it doesn't really need to be remade anymore. Minority Report and Repo Men (a highly underated film) are pretty close spins on the same idea. They're all films about a futuristic enforcement officer who sees the errors of his ways when the tables get turned forcing him to go of the run and take down the establishment he once served. sh*t, even Judge Dredd somewhat fits this mold. While a remake may be unnecessary, its still a competent premise for a film. I'll give it a chance for now.
