David R. Ellis Wants to Keep "Untitled 3D Shark Thriller" Title

David R. Ellis Wants to Keep "Untitled 3D Shark Thriller" TitleSubmit Comment
Director David R Ellis (Snakes on a Plane) has been working on his "Shark Night 3D" horror film, which is set to hit theaters on September 2nd. And while the flick has already been sold under that title in most foreign territories, Ellis would like to change it in the US to something more original. His suggestion: "Untitled 3D Shark Thriller."

"I hated the original ['Shark Night 3D'] title too," he told NY Mag. "So at our weekly production meetings, I made everyone on the crew come up with names 'Chums,' 'Fins,' 'Terror on the Lake' but they all seemed kind of cheesy. And so until I hear a better name, I like what we've got right now: 'Untitled 3D Shark Thriller.' The title says everything you need to know: We've got sharks, it's in 3D, and it's a thriller."

The story revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.

Sounds like an episode of Scooby Doo

Still like to see a good shark movie without it being a remake of Jaws.

MEG !!!

@ Trailer - The Reef was worth a watch, alot like open water, but more people to be eaten.

AYT-

The Reef worth buying then ?

I did see Black Water which was directed Andrew Traucki who directed Reef and i thought that was a pretty good film better than Rogue which came out about the same time.

When the hell are they going to release Jaws on Blu Ray ....

@ Trailer - wouldnt pay a fortune for it but worth 9 -10 quid, i liked Black Water too, id say its a better movie, same sort of real feel though, quite tense to watch in some parts

@ Trailer - as for Jaws on Bluray, hope they dont screw up the sound like they did on the Anniversary DVD, the gun shots at the end sound weak, no crash when it comes through the window of the orca and more importantly they removed the FART!.....incase you havent noticed, its when Quint comes out and throws the two fellas a soggy life jacket each....he says "hooper" throws jacket, then "chief" hands him the jacket......then someone lets out a fart! Quint turns and leans against the side of the orca with a propper smirk on his face! check it out lol

It would have to be Bull sharks b/c they are the only ones who can survive in freshwater. I would love to see Meg finally, loved the book.

Hahahahahaha !!! , Nice find AYT

I have seen Jaws soooooooo many times but i don't ever remember hearing a fart durring that scene.

Will have dig out the old VHS copy from the loft and check that out.

I watched the French Connection Blu Ray over Christmas and that conversion was a poorer quality than the DVD very disappointed with that , same as Rocky 1-5 very poor. But something like Clint Eastwood's Magnum Force was like watching a new film brilliant conversion.

So they don't always get it right do they.

Good idea. Why pretend you're making a good movie?
AYT BALL writes:

@ Trailer - its a shame, if they dont know how to do it right they should leave it alone or get someone else on the conversion, you should know what your getting when you buy a bluray, by the way, havent read MEG, any good?

Bad-

You Know that

I was even happy at one point Jan De Bont was going to direct for New Line not the best choice but at least the movie was going to be made, then they went with Rush Hour 3 instead and now the movie is back in development hell again.

If Deep Blue Sea and their clever sharks can be made someone somewhere must be able get this film together at some point.

To be honest AYT i have never read the book either but a good pal of mine has and he swears it would make an Awesome movie he's been going on about it for ages.

Just read the blurb, has the makings of a good one, maybe if this 3D untitled thing does well it could get the studios putting money behind it, never know.

I gotta say, i'm actaully looking forward to this. Animal attack movies (Anaconda, Jaws, Piranah, Deep Blue Sea, Tremors) are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Also, @boogiel - Spot on with the Title, make a series featuring different events. Sharks On A Lake.
