Danny Boyle's "Frankenstein" Play to be Shown in US Theaters

During his promotion of "127 Hours," we had the chance to speak to director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) to get an update on the third "28 Days Later" movie. He explained that another installment will happen, but it will be after 2012 since he's now focused on his British "Frankenstein" stage play and opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

But if you're a fan of Boyle and can't wait another couple of years before seeing a new film from him, you'll be happy to know that "Frankenstein," which just started previews, will be broadcast live via satellite to 370 cinemas globally on March 17th. This includes 85 movie theaters in the US.

The plan is to have up to 8 cameras recording the play during the night of the live broadcast. Boyle is not only directing the play itself, but also currently making suggestions regarding how to make the broadcast better. "We're not making a movie, it's very much the live experience," said National Theater representative. "This doesn't feel like a piece of theater that's being re-staged for the cinema you feel incredibly connected to the live performance. Our US audience is growing quite dramatically."

"Frankenstein" is the first play Boyle has directed in 15 years and has already sold out its initial 10-week run. Because of that, it has been extended until early May.

Danny Boyle, you're a talented man, so it saddens me to say that this is beneath you.

But good luck, you've earned the right to do what you want without shoving it down our collective throats.

"without shoving it down our collective throats."

I'm contrasting Boyle's apparent modesty with other more egotistical directors. Like Cameron.

Opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics , That's will be about 25 miles from me and can safely say no one gives a rats ass about that or his opening ceremony (how they got him on board god only knows).

But like you say Mink he's earned the right to do what ever the hell he likes i guess.

Least the next 28 days later film can be set in the Olympic village when thats sitting there empty as of next year.

He's a talented guy, trailer, and even though I don't care for a number of his films, I wish him well and good luck.

You know that Fathom will be eating this up.

Too bad that you can't have the same piss breaks that the theater audience will have at the play. Otherwise, you'll miss sh*t.

Even though it's Frankenstein.

This is a portence. An omen.

With Hollywood deciding on how to draw asses to seats with Hula Hoop! and Hacksack : One Man's Journey from Pechulli Oil to Glory, the American cinema has been and is what James Cameron has come to personify :

An outhouse to dump their sh*t.

Who ever came up with the nick CinemaIsDead may just be Nostradamus on this.

f*ck Hollywood.

"An outhouse to dump their sh*t."

Maybe, but people still line up to buy from the outhouses backwindow.

Unfortunately.

I've always said that is you sold sh*t sandwiches on the moon, you'd have a long line of customers eventually.
