Paul Greengrass and "Hurt Locker" Writer Making WikiLeaks Movies?

Paul Greengrass and "Hurt Locker" Writer Making WikiLeaks Movies?Submit Comment
Oscar-winning "The Hurt Locker" writer Mark Boal has optioned a NY Times article about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in order to turn it into a feature film. Boal is planning to write the script, but may not have enough time to do so.

The Assange biopic is just the latest WikiLeaks movie that Hollywood is working on. DreamWorks has "Inside WikiLeaks," based on a book that will be published later this month. There is also a movie that Paul Greengrass (Bourne Ultimatum) is in talks to direct. CAA is packaging it. Meanwhile, WME, Universal Pictures, BBC and HBO are all working on their own WikiLeaks projects, based on different books and articles.

And it looks like Assange isn't going away anytime soon. Sources claim that he has been officially nominated for a 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

What's with this Facebooking of films. f*ck this sh*t. Assange doesn't deserve his own film.

He's enjoying 15 minutes of fame, and all by making himself a target and troublemaker.

Ooh look at me, I can post information not meant for the public. Aren't I a clever hacker monkey?

Yeah, he's quite smart, no doubt, but he hasn't done anything to deserve a film and neither did that Facebook moron. Why Fincher decided to make a film on that junk I'll never know.

What, was the HotOrNot script tied up in development hell or something?

Shouldn't they at least wait until Assange gets shanked and wound-raped in prison before they start making a film? At least wait for the story to end before you start writing it.

Oh f*ck, another lame linear film like "The Social Network". Next in line is Google and after that one comes Bing.

Nobel Peace Prize sort of deserved a bit, for showing or atleast trying to show some truth in this crazy world. That being said.....I see this as Dreamwork's attempt to copy the success of Social Network.

being nominated for a nobel peace prize is meaningless. any *sshole can be nominated. if hitler or stalin were still alive, someone could nominate them, and it would be valid.

I'm sure it'll go The Social Network route. Not entirely accurate and dark.Besides what the f*ck has he really revealed? Wow! Soldiers f*cking with the civilians! Soldiers being *ssholes and killing people. This has always been going on and we knew it. Oh yeah and the "he said she said" bullsh*t with the countries talking sh*t about each other. Unless he reveals something startling then maybe a film would be a good idea.
