Javier Bardem Offered Villain Role in "James Bond 23"

Javier Bardem Offered Villain Role in "James Bond 23"Submit Comment
Javier Bardem was recently nominated for Best Actor Oscar for his role in "Biutiful," offered the lead role of Roland Deschain in the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" and just welcomed his first son with Penelope Cruz.

Deadline is now reporting that the actor has also just been offered a starring role in the upcoming James Bond film, which is set to hit theaters on November 9th, 2012.

Details about his character are being kept a secret, but many believe he will likely play the villain. After his role in "No Country For Old Men," Bardem has been offered several villain roles, including in Oliver Stone's "Wall Street" sequel, which the actor turned down.

Daniel Craig will be returning as the British secret agent, with Sam Mendes directing a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan. That script is being kept under wraps but the story begins after "Quantum Of Solace" leaves off.

Good for him. He deserves it.

"the story begins after "Quantum Of Solace" leaves off."

Oh god.

I think that should read.

"the story begins as if 'Quantum of Solace' never existed."

Rachel Weisz is out?

I'm liking this movie. I guess EON and MGM need the cash badly and it seems like they are trying to do a good job with this film. Javier Bardem is a great choice, but it seems like the studio wants to set the film in Spain just for the tax breaks again. We'll see how it turns out, but the continuity experiment with Bond movies doesn't seem to be working.

I about sh*t myself!

At first glance I thought Javier Bardem was going to play THE next James Bond (instead of Craig). As a villain... he's perfect. Just wish MGM would get the pickle outta their ass and get this made already.

On after they've emptied the pickle jar of pennies.

WP stop (for the love of God STOP) making up headlines!

Your headline is a statement that says he has been offered the role of the villain, what is so difficult about just saying he was offered a role in Bond 23?

Check it out:
http://www.deadline.com/2011/01/javier-bardem-offered-big-bond-role-as-mgm-leveraging-007-distribution-with-co-financing-deal-to-improve-its-cash-flow-jockeying-studios-increasingly-frustrated/

That's what the Deadline article you pulled from says.

It's cool to speculate but seriously, your dumb ass manipulated headlines are really really lame.

I thought Quantam Of Solace was an animated art exhibition from the creators of Vietnamese Vikings: A True Story. One thing i can say is Gemma Arterton makes me happy in pants.

Watched RockNrolla the other night and she looked really good in that...

It was a small role perfectly filled...

Its those big juicy lips i think that draw me in, i had the same fascination with Angelina Jolie before she got anorexic and Jess Alba before i saw that pregnant picture on worst previews (i'll never forgive you for that alex!) the one crazy thing is she used to have 6 toes though? that freaks me out a bit but i'd be willing to let her wear socks.

Same as me with Rachel Stevens, she is major HAWT but has webbed toes !!! ((shudders)) lol

Anything Javier does is great. I simply love him and his talent.
He would make a GREAT villain in Bond. Just do not make him some Colombian drug lord or Mexican dictator for sh*t's sake. Make him some Uber-rich fill in the blank from Spain. This just made my day!!!
