"The Social Network" Team Re-Unites for "Sex on the Moon"

"The Social Network" Team Re-Unites for "Sex on the Moon"Submit Comment
"The Social Network" producers Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are re-teaming with author Ben Mezrich, whose "Accidental Billionaires" book was turned into "Network," for a new film called "Sex on the Moon."

The movie is based on a book proposal by Mezrich, which Sony has already optioned the rights to. It tells the true story of Thad Roberts (pictured), a once-promising young scientist working for NASA who back in 2004 hatched a crazy plan to steal highly prized moon rocks (worth $21 million) from his bosses at the Johnson Space Center and sell them on the Internet. The motivation: wanting to impress his girlfriend.

He accomplished this by stealing a 600 lbs safe, containing moon rocks from every Apollo mission. In the process, he and two other former interns contaminated the rocks, making them virtually useless to the scientific community. They also destroyed three decades worth of handwritten research notes that had been locked in the safe.

"Today it is still difficult to figure out what Roberts by all accounts a bright young man was thinking when he conceived the scheme that would destroy his dreams," said LA Times writer Michael Goldstein. "Or what would make him think that he could get away with it. Or how he could talk two other NASA hopefuls into going along."

Genius and insanity are close relatives. Sounds way more interesting than The Social Network.

It's simple,"Hey fellow Nasa employees I'm thinking about stealing some sweet ass moon rocks and other mooney stuff." Said Thad Roberts.

"Thats insane I'm callin the Nasa Renta-a-Cops" Said Employees.

"I can get millions!" Said Roberts.

"We're IN!" Said Employee's

A lot of these "geniuses" are really only smart because of the pressure their parents push on them. Left to do some independent thinking of their own, in this guy's case, they fail. This really wasn't bright.

I doubt that, as the rocks had no biological value, the moon and the rocks thereof having no biology whatsoever, but instead, they're of value for the minerological content, of which is still intact.

Certainly, the atmospheric depositons on the rocks' surface were contaminated and possibly ruined, but that's a long way from claiming that the rocks are now "vi rtually useless".

Oh wait, I'm sorry guys. Here's some boobs instead:
