Jon Hamm Won't Star in "Superman" Reboot

Posted: January 15th, 2011 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Jon Hamm WonSubmit Comment
Before Zack Snyder was hired to direct the upcoming "Superman" reboot, fans wanted to see Jon Hamm ("Mad Men") playing the man of steel. Then Snyder was brought on, making Hamm's chances even better since he was working with the director on "Sucker Punch."

Unfortunately, Hamm just confirmed to MTV that Snyder is looking for someone much younger to play Superman. "I talked to Zack quite a bit," he explained. "But no, I think that's a young man's game now. I think I've been aged out of that one by now, but that's fine with me. There are plenty of other people available to put on tights."

Warner Bros will begin filming in June, so a casting announcement will likely be make soon. The new movie is scheduled to hit theaters in December of 2012.

He would've been good as an older Superman, but with this being a f*cking reboot they, WB, 'need' someone still in high school.

He's just too old, unfortunately, though he would have done well in the role, visually at least.

He's got the face, but that's about it. The guy is a mouse in height and muscle.

A better story would be to report who WILL play Superman, yes?

Ranger, WP isn't that far along in inventing the news. Give them some time.

"He's got the face, but that's about it. The guy is a mouse in height and muscle."

Bullsh*t. He's over 6 foot in height. He's only a few inches shorter than Routh. And muscle masss can be gained quite easily.

Hamm would actually play a pretty badass Lex Luther
minkowski writes:

Only because Lex is depicted nearly as handsome as Supes, as are all DC characters...

stevethemoviehater

he did a small comedy bit on funny or die as lex.

He was a f*cking beast in The Town. I think he would have been good as Supes or Lex but I really doubt they will have Lex as the villain again. I would introduce one of Supes many other more powerful enemies.

Like have Doomdays crash down on earth sent by brainiac or Darkseid to be a test to see how powerful superman is. Then throw Lex in the mix as a cameo showing him working on a power suit or something for the next movie with darkseid or brainiac also making a move in the next movie.

Interesting

Hamm as Lex - great. As Supes - nope. Rabid and stevethemoviehater are spot on as far as I'm concerned.

He's got the height, but not overall physique.

Good grief

Just pick either Roth or Welling

They both look the part

They both have done decent jobs at playing the role

With a good director and story they would make the film as good as the Donner one
VDODSON writes:

Put Routh in it then, f*ck that smallville actor. Welling just seems like a big kid trying to impress his parents.

Routh should just get the part back. He had that im helpless but all powerful vibe. he should definitely bulk up a little though or get some costume muscles like in the first batman. Other than that he was decent in superman returns. However i do think they make Clark too goofy. I understand hes supposed to be superman's impression of humanity but i think they always take it too far into the camp region. They would be wise to watch the superman cartoon from the 90s.

and i totally agree with vdodson. he can barely act and looks like hes about to cry all the time.

Thanks Yellow, for the life of me I cant understand how people think Welling can play Superman. Smallville is garbage, dude walks around in a matrix coat.

"He's got the height, but not overall physique."

Yes, because no one, in the history of the world, ever went from small fry weakling to musclebound hulk through the use of vigorous weight training and/or supplements, right?
