Jim Carrey's "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" is Moving Forward

"Ripley's Believe It Or Not" was just weeks away from starting production back in 2007, before Paramount Pictures killed the $175 million project. Now comes word that the studio is trying again and has hired Oscar-winning writer Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Curious Case of Benjamin Button) to completely re-write the script.

Tim Burton, who was set to direct the 2007 film, is no longer attached. Jim Carrey, however, is still interested in portraying newspaper columnist Robert Ripley. This isn't the first time Paramount tried to push the project forward. After Burton dropped out, Michel Gondry and Chris Columbus were in talks to replace him.

The film is about Ripley's search around the world for the most unusual people and places that he immortalized in his newspaper column. The locales were exotic and the sights were unbelievable, but the film is about Ripley's journey to appreciate that the unusual people were more than just conquests to be cataloged.

Just the other day I stated Carrey needs to give us another funny movie and yet he still wants to do drama

This like me walking into a car service shop and I proceed to take a motor out of a car and try to rebuild the engine when I dont even know how to change the oil

Come on Carrey your a comedian

This is like Schwarzenegger wanting to do that stupid, man having a baby movie

I really wish they'd find some other go-to guy for playing every wacky, zany popular nonconformist unlucky enough to get featured in a Hollywood film. Is there no one lse that can do eccntric, save Carrey and di Caprio, but mostly, overwhelmingly, Carrey?

It's hard to see him do the same thing, play the same role with slight variation in every film demanding the introduction of a screw-loose character.
