"S.W.A.T." Sequel TrailerSubmit Comment
Colin Farrell's "SWAT" film grossed over $200 million worldwide on a $80 million budget when it hit theaters back in 2003. That was enough to merit a straight-to-DVD sequel, called "SWAT: Firefight," for which we now have a trailer. Check it out below.

Plot: The story revolves around an insidious and unstoppable villain (Robert Patrick), determined to exact his revenge on the new, hot-shot instructor (Gabriel Macht) of Detroit's most elite crime fighting team.

The new movie is directed by Benny Boom (Next Day Air) and co-stars Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3). It is scheduled to hit stores on DVD and Blu-ray on March 1st.

Macht's career really took a beating after The Spirit?

And "any means necessary" probably doesn't mean blow up whole buildings.

The Spirit was a sick tasteless joke. This looks like my friday nights
Cd_Smith0 writes:

Except for the retarded pictured of the cover, this doesn't look half bad for a straight to DVD sequel. That said straight to dvd sequels are f*cking joke and terrible product of hollywood

I love Gabriel Macht and this is really really sad. The Spirit then Whiteout then straight-to-DVD :((

Really?? film makers ignoring Robert Patrick and they cast him in sh*t like this?

That actually looks better than the first one

well i rather watch this than the first one,the first swat movie kept me away because i saw colin farrel, michelle the dyke rodriquez, and LL cool J so that kept me away.

this gabriel dude looks like an oscar winner compared to farrell

First off, SWAT sucked, but I can understand trying to cash in on a sequel considering the original made a good profit. Eight years has been too long though. I forgot SWAT even existed and I'm pretty sure I saw that in the theater when it came out.
Farradin writes:

Looks much better than the first one. Actually looks like a theatre film!

Swat sucked hard, and I dont waste my time with straight to dvd sequels
beepboop writes:

Picture quality looks awful. Did they make it darker in post?

It does look better than the original, but I'd really like to see a movie about a SWAT team doing SWAT stuff. Main story about a hostage situation, not about personal revenge or "I ave millio dolla for anyone who frees moi".
Rambo writes:

looks pretty good.much better then the first crappy one with Whining Farrel

BeepPop: Actually looks like it was shot on a DSLR(Narrow Latitude, Crushed blacks, easy to mount on guns for first person, amongst other things)

Doesn't look half bad for a straight to DVD either.

Originally titled T.W.A.T.S.

Stood for "The Weakest and Awful Theatrical sh*t".

But after saner thoughts prevailed, studio douch...execs I mean, decided to send it straight to WalMart's Bargain Bin release venue. Smart guys.

Now the title stands for "Stupid Waste of Actors' Time".

But in short, it looks like Che's favorite fast food: a DoublePounder d*ckburger with extra cheese.

In other words, nothing you'd want, unless you're very, very gay.

@freudian

It seems so. He should SWAT his agent in the ass.

@eben

beat me to it.

Sony's Stage6 production known as "Felon" changed my mind about straight-to-dvd flicks (and Stephen Dorff) and continues to impress.

Macht should search for some quality TV - and hope to return to big screen John Hamm style. I like the guy - too bad his career got ruined by bad choices.

first one wasn't to good, this one looks like it'll end up like Mirrors 2, except the first film in Mirrors was actually good.

I don't want to go over the problems I had with the first SWAT picture, which went from an interesting story to Hollywood pap in 60 seconds, but this straight to DVD films has a few things going against it :

a. Eight years from first movie to sequel. Not too forgiving with movie audiences.

b. The director of Next Day Air directing this .... did anyone even see Next Day Air ? All I saw was that it starred Turk from Scrubs and Mos Def and said pass. Even Mike Epps could save that lame-o.

c. Gabriel Macht. Irony that he went from a movie co-starring Samuel L Jackson that was an abomination of the great Spirit series of comics and strips created by Will Eisner to a sequel of a movie that was so-so, costarring Samuel L Jackson as "Hondo".

d. Kristiana Loken ... who ? Oh, you mean that chick from Terminator 3 that was battling Schwartzenegger ... did anyone even watch Terminator 3 : Rise of the Machines and not think it was a College Humor spoof of Terminator ?

This has as much Fail stinking off of it as a Uwe Boll project.

Maybe even moreso.
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

Man, Robert Patrick just let himself go .... you know, you can say 'no' to a cheeseburger now and then, Rob

" Defeat the enemy any way you can ? "

Is that SWAT or a military exercise ? Jesus, if it's The A-Team : Mission to Detroit, they should've titled it that. Very misleading.
minkowski writes:
on January 11th, 2011 at 7:04:18 PM

Looks terrible. Patrick is WAY too old and lame to play a bad guy. And the acting is atrocious.

They could at least have given us a Loken nude sex scene, but not even that, apparently, is uncluded.

Pass. Use the DVD for a beer coaster. Or a fly SWATter.
minkowski writes:

"" Defeat the enemy any way you can ? "

I thought pretty much the same thing when I heard that line.

SWAT does not defeat the enemy any way they can. First, the perp isn't called the enemy, and second SWAT only uses highly procedural methods and rule of engagement for taking down the perp, but only after it's deemed necessary.

With a line like that, you'd think this movie was Rambo 5 or something, or Die Hard.

Just f*cking stupid.
