"Jonah Hex" May Win an OscarSubmit Comment
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the seven films that are still competing for nominations in the Makeup category for the 83rd Academy Awards. "Jonah Hex," one of the worst reviewed films of 2010, is on the list.

On Tuesday, January 25th at 8:30am EST, the Academy will reduce the list down to three nominees that will be competing for the Oscar. The Academy Awards will then air on Sunday, February 27th.

The seven remaining films in the Makeup category:

* Alice in Wonderland

* Barney's Version

* The Fighter

* Jonah Hex

* True Grit

* The Way Back

* The Wolfman

Im guessing not

Well how is this a big shocker? How does one thing effect the other?

Just because the film might be sh*t (haven't seen it myself), it doesn't mean that the make-up is sh*t. Why should the hard work of these make-up artists go unnoticed because of this completely unrelated fact(?)..?

@ SoftimusPrime - the make up was nothing special to be honest, Brolins face looked ok, thats pretty much it.

Jonah Hex may win an oscar for the best c*nt scenes.

I disagree there i think any film, that bad should not be allowed to win awards for anything. An award which could encourage more people to see the film based on the standards of make up could lead to more people buying it which tells hollywood that we accept sh*t films. It's a vicous circle and we've got to stop the f*ckers somehow

@AYT BALL

There was makeup on Brolin's face?!!!

nice title but its obvious the gay 'Alice in wonderland' will win this category.

This movie made me start reading reviews again before seeing movies in the theater.

wolfman had some great makeup. say what u want about how bad it was.
Mister Leary writes:

Pretty sure this film is the reason the cast and crew were uninvited from the awards show,
rabid writes:

Wolfman was a pretty decent film, not bad, and the makeup was very well done.

Jonah Hex doesn't really belong on this list. The fx were really confused over such a simple prosthetic. They thought it was fused skin over his lip and not a torn jaw muscle, so it looked like Jonah always had a piece of snot dripping. Also, they completely screwed up the scarred eye.
There was pretty much nothing professional about that film except for the cinematography.

Damn! I almost forgot.

Jonah Hex was really just a feature long PSA showing the dangers of what can happen if you go down on BitchHunter's sister without using "Ye Olde Dental Dam"

Poor face

@ BITCHHUNTER - yeah they had to use some to cover up the skin fungus he caught of megan fox ;-)

If a piece of distorted skin gets an Oscar...

Lohan would have won one already for starring in: 'Look Daddy, my Twat is a Quonset!'

^They should call it the Ed Gein award.

So if 2 chewbaccas fighting in The Wolfman looked great. Then why not Yogi Bear for best special effects

I think you misread WP

Its probably being nominated for least watched movie
minkowski writes:

The fact that a film is nearly unwatchable does not mean it's a complete failure at every level in every direction in every way. TO think that makes you look about as bright as a blown bulb.

Fact is, very few films fail in every conceivable way, and more to the point, lacking the ability to find something positive to say about a film usually means you are not looking hard enough.

Either that or you're a worthless c*nt.

lol...

C'mon Mink... don't sugarcoat it.
encoreyourface writes:

f*ck that. Jonah Hex wasn't unwatchable but it was a definite let down (however watching Megan Fox get her ass kicked was satisfying). I've heard good things about The Fighter but never actually seen it. The only thing on here that is actually okay for an Oscar (in my opinion) is Wolfman.

"Jonah Hex" May Win an Oscar ... for Makeup ? Looks like that stuff you can buy at Party Town for under $ 20.00 to use during Halloween.

It should've nominated itself for Best Comedic Actress. Megan would've won in spades.
minkowski writes:
on January 11th, 2011 at 8:21:13 PM

I'll give it a nom for the "Best Pseudo-Actress Worth a Royal Assf*cking" category.

Other than that, blah.
rabid writes:

It definitely deserves an award for Best Politically Correct Mangling of a Beloved Pop Culture Icon.
Bunny X writes:

I understand @SoftimusPrime's point and agree but that's how Under Siege was able to snag an Oscar. I think they got it for sound editiing.
