Inside SFX Magazine is a photo of Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) as Red Skull in his Johann Schmidt disguise, holding the Cosmic Cube, which is a mystical device capable of ultimate power and transforming wishes into reality. The cube is said to also appear in the upcoming "Thor film" as one of the items in Odin's vault. Check out the photo below.

The story will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

The new movie is directed by Joe Johnston (The Wolfman) and in addition to Weaving, the new movie stars Chris Evans (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky) and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter). It is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22nd.

"Red Skull Holding Cosmic Cube"

- As long as he's not holding a pair of galactic balls...

"... the Cosmic Cube, which is a mystical device capable of ultimate power and transforming wishes into reality"

- Big deal. There's an iPhone app that does just the same.

Hugo the only redeeming factor in this sh*tfest!

Oh so it's one of those comic to movie translations where all the characters wear black, instead of their normal, recognizable colors.

It's a bland, dull cube. Why the f*ck is he staring at it like it's a movie out of Moses dvd collection?

You mother f*ckers...the title of this article is so misleading

And Matt Damon didn't say he's making his own Jason Bourne movie, he said technically he could undermine Universal if he so desired...why don't you f*cking dipsh*ts at WP learn to write the truth

I hope your mothers get AIDS

Oh noes, is da big eva' suga' cube! Was we all gonna do now?

Not sure, but if I was Caps, I wouldn't be worried over some f*cking cube.
rabid writes:

It's not exactly a cube. It's a tesseract, with some of its facets existing in dimensions that are beyond human eyesight. The person who holds it can bend reality to their will. They could turn Captain America into a chicken or a puddle of piss.
rabid writes:
on January 9th, 2011 at 9:54:33 PM

still I don't think this is the real Cosmic Cube. It's a decoy!
boogiel writes:

So, basicaly it's the same as green lantern's ring but in the shaped of cube.
KindredMac writes:

The Red Skull isn't looking too "red" there....
rabid writes:

He won't get his face melted off til the end of the film, I'm sure. I'd rather go into the movie not having seen his skull face.

The Cube is muh heavier a weapon than GL's ring. The ring only creates weapons out of light, but the Cube can actually transmute matter and energy at a thought. It's like owning a genie's lamp with unlimited wishes.

I think in the movies, they're going to set it up where Odin once used the Cube to create the Asgardian race and their world.
