Inside SFX Magazine is a photo of Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) as Red Skull in his Johann Schmidt disguise, holding the Cosmic Cube, which is a mystical device capable of ultimate power and transforming wishes into reality. The cube is said to also appear in the upcoming "Thor film" as one of the items in Odin's vault. Check out the photo below.
The story will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
The new movie is directed by Joe Johnston (The Wolfman) and in addition to Weaving, the new movie stars Chris Evans (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Bucky) and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter). It is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22nd.

It's not exactly a cube. It's a tesseract, with some of its facets existing in dimensions that are beyond human eyesight. The person who holds it can bend reality to their will. They could turn Captain America into a chicken or a puddle of piss.

He won't get his face melted off til the end of the film, I'm sure. I'd rather go into the movie not having seen his skull face.
The Cube is muh heavier a weapon than GL's ring. The ring only creates weapons out of light, but the Cube can actually transmute matter and energy at a thought. It's like owning a genie's lamp with unlimited wishes.
I think in the movies, they're going to set it up where Odin once used the Cube to create the Asgardian race and their world.
