Greg Kinnear's "The Kennedys" Mini-Series Won't Air in US

Back in 2003, CBS decided to shelve "The Reagans" mini-series after advertisers threatened a boycott because it showed Ronald Reagan being insensitive to AIDS victims. It eventually aired on CBS' paid-network Showtime.

Now comes word that "The Kennedys," the 8-part mini-series that was set to air on the History channel this spring, has also been shelved due to pressure from Kennedy family members.

"Upon completion of the production of 'The Kennedys,' History has decided not to air the 8-part miniseries on the network," said the broadcaster. "While the film is produced and acted with the highest quality, after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand."

The multi-million-dollar series, which stars Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes as John and Jackie Kennedy, would have been the network's first scripted mini-series. But critics have called it "vindictive, malicious" and "one-sided." And it was set to air on the 50th anniversary of JFK's inauguration.

"The Kennedys" will still air in Canada on March 6th and internationally. In the US, however, producers are hoping to find it a home on a pay-cable channel.

That explains everything. JFK probably battles a prehistoric shark or greenscreened robot aliens.

Is this as insensitive as when Lyndon Baines Johnson unzipped and slipped his c*ck into the bullet hole on John's forehead, after they boarded the corpse onto the plane ?

Please.

You're the educational equivalent of Spike TV.

but also the propaganda equivalent of Lord Kitchener. Something in the film must disagree with the politics of their financiers.
History Channel is owned by NBC/ABC/Disney/A&E.

Freedom of Speech doesn't cover the forcing of a company to pay to air what is doesn't want to pay to air. Period.

Yeah big deal, I didn't even know that anyone was still watching the History Channel. And probably the best thing that ever happened to this mini series. And doubtful that anyone will know just how many accredited historians lined up to say that it's portrayal of Kennedy was completely full of sh*t.

Or for that matter that at least one historical Kennedy novelist was cited by the producers of this mini series as a historical consultant on Kennedy, a man who also very publicly stated that this mini-series was about as far from what really happened as it could possibly get.

A novelist by the way that didn't exactly write a flattering book about Kennedy.

Personally I just think that there were too many historians outraged that such a historically inaccurate mini-series was going to be aired on a channel with the word "History" in its name.

CBS on the other hand does not have the word "History" in its name. Not only that but Reagan really was insensitive to AIDS victims. That is so historically accurate that Reagan himself later in life even did a public service announcement stating that he was wrong for being so insensitive on this issue

^^paraphrasing here. Don't care enough to look up the video, but it is out there. But hey if you want to take a big swig of Ass-Munch Cola and call me a liar than I'm perfectly okay with it...Just as long as you promise not to stroke your penis and passionately call out my name while you are doing it...
