Photo: New Tank Design Based on "The Dark Knight" BatmobilePosted: December 23rd, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

During a press conference for BAE Systems, a British defense company, a journalist commented that one of their concept vehicles (The Raider) looks similar to the Batmobile (The Tumbler) from "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight."
Project leader Hisham Awad replied: "Glad you said that. That's what we based it on. We liked the look of that, so we designed something similar. You see, it turns like a motorbike and it has the same wheel configuration."
When asked if Awad really based a military vehicle on something he saw in a movie, Awad said: "Well, why not? In all seriousness, we decided that we didn't have a monopoly on inspiration, and if we saw something in a film that we thought might be a good idea, why not take a look at it and see if there's something practical we can develop."
The Raider is described as "a small, highly agile autonomous reconnaissance and attack vehicle which can carry a variety of payloads." Check out a photo of it below.

About 3 miles to the gallon?

Uh-huh. I can model in 3D better than that. Looks like sh*t. Looks like something from Wolfenstein 3D if that game was total sh*t.
And they based it off of a movie vehicle? Looks like a Segway sh*tting a motorcycle.

So, in other words, one RPG and this real life tank is done? Just like The Dark Knight's Batmobile? Um, ok. That's very comforting. NOT!

Tanks have tracks to tip into and traverse, trenches, bomb craters and the like. This is a tricycle with very LITTLE traction on the ground. Ummm, yeah. Good luck with that.
'...we didn't have a monopoly on inspiration' --- no sh*t!

NOT a tank because it doesn't have tracks nor a main gun.
It does however, look low profile. It would need a V-shaped hull to deflect blasts though.

Generally tanks are tank-shaped, that's why they were originally called....tanks.

Tanks are Tank shapped? LOL Mink quick history lesson...Tanks are called Tanks because in WWI they were transported on trains under the guise of being "tanks." The name stuck.
