Trailer: 1925 "Battleship Potemkin" Gets Theatrical Re-ReleaseSubmit Comment
Kino International has decided to re-release Sergei Eisentein's 1926 silent film "Battleship Potemkin" in theaters on January 14th. The studio has now unveiled the trailer, which you can check out below.

Plot: Based on the historical events the movie tells the story of a riot at the battleship Potemkin. What started as a protest strike when the crew was given rotten meat for dinner ended in a riot. The sailors raised the red flag and tried to ignite the revolution in their home port Odessa.

This all-new restoration -- available for the first time in 35mm -- restores dozens of missing shots, all 146 title cards, and Edmund Meisel's definitive score, returning the film to a form as close to its creator's vision as has been seen since the film's Moscow premiere.

Uh-huh again. So, like three people plan to see this, right? All of them Guantanamo detainees?

Was this film shot through a battleship porthole?

Because they were starving, the crew raised the red flag of Communism, a political system that has led to more deliberate starvation (e.g., the Ukraine and Stalin, Cuba and Castro)than any other in the history of the world.

Saw this movie over fifteen years ago, and it's pure Soviet propaganda for the most part. So much so that even those old Soviet communists recognized it as such.

Propaganda for a country that doesn't exist anymore.

Well Mink hindsight is always 20/20, and perhaps if those sailors could have peered into the future as seen those mass starvation they would have hesitated more to do what they did.

An inherent flaw is communism in practice has always been with a particular communistic country's agriculture.

China, the Soviet Union, and Cuba are all prime examples of the results of that flaws.

Something that then President Jimmy Carter realized, and effectively slit his own throat politically with his main supporter (Farmers) by stopping the sale of agricultural goods to the Soviet Union during his administration, effectively putting a severe economic strain on the Soviet Union no matter who was leading that country.

Eventually being for more effective at getting Mr. Gorbachev to "tear those walls down" than anything the next president ever did besides swaggering on camera a lot.

Again, an inherent flaw in communism, only amplified by extremely flawed leaders.

Those sailors back then couldn't possibly conceive of a flaw that a President of the United States many decades later finally was able to.

And in case you didn't know it, those in power in Russia before it become the Soviet Union weren't the most democratic humanitarians in the world.

Just an old propaganda film from a country that no longer exists, no reason to get your panties in a bunch.

Lions, and tigers, and communists oh my!!

We get it Zee. You like communism. Now go away.

And is was actually Star Wars that led Gorbie to finally dismantle the SU, not Peanut Farmer Carter who was one of the worst presidents the US has ever had. The guy was a professional loser.

Gorbie, already under accelerating economic hardship that was central to the failed idiotology of Communism, a systemm that simply does not work no matter what, realized he couldn't compete with the US economically.

In fact, the SU was already spending almost it's entire GDP just to remain on par, or superior to, the US military. LMAO.

There was simply nothing anyone could have done to save the SU, and Gorbie was elected because the people, and even some of the hardliners, realized it.

But thank god Reagan stood up them, not just as president, but throughout his ENTIRE life, which is more than Carter could ever say, what with his terminal malaise and him seeing UFOs. LOL. What a f*cking joke.

@Mink

You know you're a pretty smart guy, and the thing I like about you is that most of the times you have a good solid clue about what you are talking about. Definitely much more intelligent and possessing a knack for research than the average internet comment maker.

Wouldn't take you to be one to readily accept anything that the standard non-book reading Oprah watching drooling idiot.

And I still don't.

But.

You're wrong here.

Nothing in my comment earlier says I like communism.

Just sad to be afraid and antagonistic of something that is very much going the way of the dinosaur.

But hey you go with that.

Second of all, you actually think that fear of Reagan's proposed Star War system had any effect on Russia at all?

Bwah haha haha ha ha ha.

Seems that reports of your intelligence, at least in this case were severely exaggerated.

Uh from day one, seconds after Reagan announced the whole Star Wars program, experts in the Russian defense were laughing their asses off...

Experts in most civilized countries when it came to such things as military defense were laughing their asses off about Reagan and his little (so crucial according to you) Star Wars plan.

Why?

Take about ten minutes to readjust the Russian rockets so that they never reached a point where a space defense program would have ANY effect whatsoever.

Space missile defense only works if the nuclear missiles go into space.

Especially the type of technology Reagan was supposedly devoting billions on.

Back then theoretically the only possible way that technology MIGHT have worked is if was exactly that, and outer space utilized technology.

Why may you ask?

Not that you did obviously.

But within an atmosphere just too much diffusion of the coherence of the various beam weaponry.

Effectiveness even if Reagan had THOUSANDS OF SATELLITES with SDI tech on them wouldn't have mean jack sh*t in the atmosphere.

In outer space, maybe. At least no atmosphere dropping their effectiveness by 96%.

Just now, just now are we headed in the direction technology where it MIGHT be somewhat effective.

But certainly, even now, effective enough for it to be of ANY consequence if ANYONE readjusted the trajectory of their nuclear missiles where they never technically went into outer space.

And again, that was common and basic knowledge that most quickly understood when the Gipper announced his little plan.

And no the Soviets always readily admitted that at no time did they ever devote as much of their GDP as the United States did.

And they never attempted to catch up.

And Carter certainly wasn't the brightest or militaristic president that we ever had. But than again, he didn't f*ck the United States economically to the point that we are on well on our way of being Number Two or possibly three or four, like Ronald Reagan did.

So my suggestion is to wait around about another decade Mink, and see which of the two gets called the biggest loser presidentially.
