In an interview with Hitfix, Jeff Bridges was asked if there are any other character that he would like to bring back to the big screen, similar to what he did with Kevin Flynn in "Tron: Legacy."
"The Dude [from 'The Big Lebowski'] would be nice, I don't think that's in the cards," he explained. "'Starman,' I always wondered what happened there? That's kind of set up. Karen Allen is preggers. She's got that little ball and stuff. What's up with that?"
"Starman" is a 1984 film directed by John Carpenter. It revolves around an alien who has crash-landed in the US, takes on the the appearance of a woman's dead husband, and enlists her help to escape from pursuing authorities in order to locate a spacecraft on the other side of the country. As he learns how to be more human, the alien begins to take on more and more qualities of the woman's husband, drawing the woman closer.
Speaking of the value of Heaven's Gate ... which if anyone remembers, was a financial and critical monstrosity for United Artists (in fact, many in the film industry blamed Heaven's Gate for being the deathknell for United Artists, which was having problems continuing to compete against the other major studios at that time), Jerry Zucker loved that movie and convinced the director to give him (at the studios protest) the first ever director's cut, which he shown on the Z Channel, back when he was offering movies to his subscribers, inventing what you see now on Showtime, the Movie Channel, Turner Movie Channel, American Movie Channel, Cinemax, Home Box Office and other cable channels ....
I recommend to check out Z Channel : A Magnificant Obsession.
