"Madden Curse" Movie in Development Posted: December 21st, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Electronic Arts is developing "Madden Curse," a sports comedy based on the curse that many believe strikes NFL players who appear on the cover of the company's popular "Madden" video game.
The story will follow a former "Madden" video game champion who is forced out of retirement just as he finds himself on the corner of the game's cover -- and subject to the curse.
Here is a recap of the curse:
* In 1999, the cover featured Garrison Hearst, who broke his fibula in the NFC divisional playoffs.
* In 2000, the cover featured Barry Sanders, who retired before the season. A new cover was then released with Dorsey Levens, who then injured his knee and never returned as a starter.
* In 2001, the cover featured Eddie George, whose career ended a year later.
* In 2002, the cover featured Dante Culpepper, who then suffered a season-ending knee injury.
* In 2003, the cover featured Marshall Faulk, who ended up with a lingering ankle injury that limited his rushing yards to a five year low.
* In 2004, the cover featured Michael Vick, who broke his leg one day after the cover was released. He only played in five games the entire year.
* In 2005, the cover featured Ray Lewis, who tore his hamstring, broke his wrist and hurt his thigh.
* In 2006, the cover featured Donovan McNabb suffered a hernia that resulted in a season-ending surgery.
* In 2007, the cover featured Shaun Alexander, who broke his foot.
* In 2008, the cover featured Vince Young, who ended up playing only five games after a quadriceps injury. The following year he suffered a knee injury that caused him to miss most of the season.
* In 2009, the cover featured Brett Favre, who avoided the curse.
* In 2010, the cover featured Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu. Fitzgerald suffered a rib injury, missing the Pro Bowl. Polamalu sprained his MCL and then tore his PCL.
* In 2011, the cover features Drew Brees, who stayed healthy all year, but there is still time for the curse to ruin his career.

Instead of making it as a comedy. why don't make it as a horror/thriller?

If any of the last hits to Favre on the field are any indication, the "Madden Curse" may take one more ....

I think this would make for a hilarious movie! I hope it actually comes to fruition! I could see it being in the vein of The Replacements.... God I love that movie.... and the hot lead cheerleader....

Favre did avoid the curse. He retired, came back to the jets and screwed his shoulder up. he ended up losing 6 of their last 8 cause he couldn't throw the ball.

Didn't John Randle get f*cked up too after appearing on an earlier cover?

@struck21
If the meathead stayed retired, then I would agree with you on that.
He was as much retired as a "wrestler" that claims retirement, then comes back into the wrestling ring to continue f*cking up his body.

@ Max They put him on the cover because he retired. They were hoping to end the curse there but he came back and got injured. He just played through it.

Nope if you ask me the curse is hitting Farve sa we speak. This year scandle, injuries. He would of been better of retiring this here, as his legacy is on the verge of being ruined.....

Yeah, I think Max and Lost have it right. Favre didn't avoid the curse, it was just a little delayed. Of course, he really has only himself to blame since he loves attention and drama and insists on coming back when he's too old. Maybe the Bears finally knocked some sense into him.
Also, way to hope for the ruination of Drew Brees' career, Alex lol.

When Farve drives his car off the road, down the cliff and into a tree (on the way home after losing another game), then the blood of the injust will be avenged.
Oops.
Toooooo much information.
