Michael Moore's "Sicko" was Banned in Cuba

WikiLeaks has released thousands of documents that in addition to containing top US secret, they also contain information about two famous US filmmakers.

A confidential US embassy memo states that Cuba banned the Michael Moore's "Sicko," despite the fact that the country's healthcare system was highly praised in the film.

The reason for the ban is because "the film painted such a 'mythically' favorable picture of Cuba's healthcare system that the authorities feared it could lead to a 'popular backlash' by showing Cuban facilities that are clearly not available to the vast majority of them."

The memo goes on to say that when "Sicko" was screened for a group of Cuban doctors, some became so "disturbed at the blatant misrepresentation of healthcare in Cuba that they left the room."

i heard it was also banned because, in the Cuban version, Moore poses nude

Now to get Moore banned in this country.

And when Cuba bans you for propaganda, you KNOW you're shoveling lies. But that's old news about Moore, except perhaps to those idiot liberals still buying his crap.

Maybe he can do an expose on himself nex called 'Fatso'.

f*cking lardass liar.

Waaay off on this one guys.
The lie was that it was banned. Wikileaks' cable exposed that.
'Sicko' had just been playing in Cuban theaters. Then the entire nation of Cuba was shown the film on national television on April 25, 2008! The Cubans embraced the film so much so it became one of those rare American movies that received a theatrical distribution in Cuba. Screenings of 'Sicko' were set up in towns all across the country.

^^You're correct:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/18/wikileaks-us-diplomats-story-cuba-banned-sicko-film

One of those things that sounded so good it just HAD to be true.

Misrepresentation of facts in a Michael Moore movie??? Who would have thought........
minkowski writes:

Even the leftwing Guardian admits Moore fudged the facts in Sicko...

Trust me I had to research the Cuban Healthcare system. Not only did "Moor ron" fudge it he crapped all over it

I just want to see if he will protest and refuse to take any medicine or have a procedure done with technology that the "Big Bad Drug Company's" invented

Since America is so bad please leave,

oh thats right you cant express your opinions or make the kind of money he makes in 97% of the countries in the world so I guess he will stay here
minkowski writes:

Yeah, Crazyhorse, Cuba's such a hot place to live, that's why they come over here on floating doors.

Moore's a hypcrite. The guy is worth millions, and all from the system he decries. At least Ralph Nader lives below his means, or so I've heard.

And even though I readily admit we've become far too materially-oriented, I'm not taking my ass anywhere else anytime soon. Besides, in almost every other country, Moore wouldn't enjoy the luxury of being so well-fed.
Crazyhorse writes:

well fed LOL!!!!!!!

yea maybe he should do a doc*mentary on Cuba and the communism connection and show everyone how the majority of people starve

just look at those baseball players (the pride of Cuba by the way) who defect to play ball before they come here, its a wonder they have the strength to swing a bat

^Moore isn't going to do anything that ruins his scam he has running on certain classes of people in the US, classes of people that WANT to hear his lies, even though they know he makes up a lot of his facts.

These are people that are all too happy to live in a self-delusions because they think it serves the 'greater good'.

Michael Moore was also previously cast as the Green Lantern, but fatass Black's stunt double.

How f*cking old is this news ?

I remember seeing the trailer, where he had people trying to get the same type of medical care that Cuba gives it citizens.

But at that time, I remember a squinty, Texan dumbass was president and they were waterboarding terrorists ... I mean, interrogating terrorists at Guantanamo.

Too bad they couldn't ban Michael Moore from every fast food chain on the upper and lower east side of the closest interstate to where he lives.

Jesus.

That fat f*ck takes buffet too seriously.
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

sh*t.

They would need a lapband the size of Oregon to slim that f*cker down.

f*ck Mike,

It's called a f*cking treadmill.

Go buy one for f*cks sake and drop some of that Jabba the Hutt weight off.

I mean really ... are you looking to audition the play Jabba in the Empire Strikes Back reboot, or what ?
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

Michael Moore's next schlockumentary : Lard-O-Rama! : When I Sit Round The House ...
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

The reason for the ban is because "the film painted such a 'mythically' favorable picture of Cuba's healthcare system that the authorities feared it could lead to a 'popular backlash' by showing Cuban facilities that are clearly not available to the vast majority of them."

So did that floating turd, Die Another Day.

Why the f*ck didn't you ban that ?

Oh, that's right.

Halle Berry coming out of the water with water dripping off her tits, stomach and ass.

To be fair, noone has screens that big.

It would've had been reflected off the moon. Even then, you would only see one hip.

Honestly, if you're one of those people that thinks America sucks so bad, no one is holding you here at gunpoint. Go live in Cuba for a while, see how that works out for you. My guess is not too well.

America and it's citizens have their problems, and things aren't always the best here. What country doesn't? I'm proud to live here, and I won't be leaving anytime soon. I suspect a lot of people feel the same way.

There will always be people that buy Moore's garbage. But garbage is exactly what it is, and you won't find me on that list.

That article was from The Guardian - and then they factchecked and RETRACTED it.

GUARDIAN CORRECTS CLAIM THAT "SICKO" WAS BANNED IN CUBA.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/2010/dec/21/corrections-clarifications

"Series: Corrections and clarifications

Corrections and clarifications column editor The Guardian, Tuesday 21 December 2010 Article history

" Contrary to a claim made in a leaked US diplomatic cable whose contents we reported, Sicko a doc*mentary by film-maker Michael Moore was not banned in Cuba. The film, which examines US healthcare through comparisons with some countries' publicly funded systems, including Cuba's, was in fact shown in film theatres throughout the island and on national TV (Cuba 'vetoed' healthcare film, 18 December, page 7)."
