Martin Scorsese Planning "The Irishman" for 2011Submit Comment
The Digital Spy caught up with Martin Scorsese, who revealed that he will soon be re-teaming with Robert De Niro for "The Irishman," which is in the financing phase and may go into production in 2011.

The new movie revolves around Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, who is reputed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders. The movie is based on a book called "I Heard You Paint Houses," which refers to mob slang for contract killings, and the resulting blood splatter on walls and floors.

Steve Zallian (Gangs of New York, Cape Fear) is working on the script and Scorsese is in talks with Al Pacino and Joe Pesci to join the project.

Only Scorsese can save De Niro and Pacino from the career path they have taken over the last few years.

These guys need to do what ever it takes to make this movie happen.

As good as this guys is, I'd really like to see him do something different for a change.

I mean, endless mob movies isn't a career dorection, it's a rut.

Do a comedy, dude.

It's about god damn time they adapted "i heard you paint houses" into a movie... and Scorsese is the perfect choice to do it!
Rookie One writes:

This gives me a boner.
Wahlberg blows.
DiCaprio is the best actor in Hollywood.
Scorsese doesnt need to leave his genre because he absolutley owns it.

@ trailer trash

well Michael Mann could definitely turn out another great movie featuring Pacino and/or DeNiro, as could Brian Singer or David Fincher.

Scorcese isnt the only great director working in Hollywood now capable of creating another great action/thriller that could amply showcase the talents of either one of these acting titans.
