Tron Legacy looks promising for its SFX

Out of the rest; jus in the name of effects,I wud go with the most boring movy of the year : alice in wonderland

Inception. That zero gravity fight scene was amazing. And the streets of Paris folding in on itself, f*cking awesome.

'Inception' and 'TRON: Legacy' are definatley the choices for the award, the rest of the choices didn't have amazing effects (I'm being a little ironic because I haven't seen 'TRON: Legacy' yet).

@vwkombi: Hell yaa.. the Zero-gravity fight sequence is the best but that was more of a pratical stunt rather than CGI-studded..

it's probably going to narrow down to inception vs.tron and my bet is tron will take it.

I would say...

Inception..maybe..Hereafter.

Eventhough I havn't seen Hereafter...just based on the trailer.

Is anyone else chuckling about the lack of Avatard on there? Think Cameron is pulling out his pubes?

I hope Scott Pilgrim gets a nod to salvage something out of that box office bomb.

Inception all the way
trailertrash writes:

crimsonfiend-

Avatar was last year fella and it won, but i bet big jim wanted a nomination with his extra 7 minutes on the re release earlier on this year though...
Jake_Awesomeness writes:

Iron Man 2, Inception and Harry Potter will be definitely getting in.
Inception seems like the clear winner though.

haha the last airbender?? really? theres no way that even stands a chance. it was an awful movie. inceptions got it in the bag from that list
SquirrelFlyer writes:

Scott Pilgrim all the way, the fight scenes were incredible. That or Inception because of the hallway fight alone...maybe tron will change my mind though..

As much as I love iron man. No film had effects as good as inception.
Cd_Smith0 writes:

it will come down to Tron and inception
Skywalker121289 writes:

Dawn Treader was actually pretty decent- the last 20 minutes were awesome.

Inception still has my vote though.
TH3D4RKKN1GH7 writes:
on December 11th, 2010 at 10:58:19 PM

TRON will get it. INCEPTION is not a visual effects heavy movie, it's a special effects movie. Sadly there's no oscar category for special effects, which is beyond stupid considering there used to be.
Man in Black writes:
on December 11th, 2010 at 11:14:51 PM

My vote would be for Inception not for how well the CGI was but for how it was used to assist the story forward .
Jedimax writes:

7:

Tron
Inception
Iron Man 2
Alice in Wonderland
Harry Potter
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (WHICH IS STILL GOING ON MY top 10 for sure)
Clash of The Titans

Not sure what that will then get narrowed into but Inception will win for sure. It will be the only one on the list with a best picture nomination.
reaper113 writes:

I hope shutter island wins, that scene with the guy and that other chick was awesome.
ilovemovies82 writes:

Assuming it's 5 nominees like usual, the Nominees SHOULD be IMO:

Alice in Wonderland
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Inception
Prince of Persia
Tron: Legacy
charmed23 writes:

* Inception

* Tron: Legacy

* Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

* Iron Man 2

* Alice in Wonderland

* Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Tron or Inception should win.
How the hell did Hereafter get nominated? Does every film by Clint Eastwood have to have some kind of nomination just for that sake of his involvement??
SebBaumer writes:
on December 12th, 2010 at 4:02:20 PM

Why are there so many nominations , you cant even root for a movie anymore
Scott writes:
on December 12th, 2010 at 5:37:16 PM

My top 5:
1.Tron
2. Inception
3. Hereafter
4. Alice in Wonderland
5. Scott Pilgrim
True, a lot of Inception was more special effects than cg, but overall, the visuals were mind-blowing. It's a lock for at least a nomination. And the tsunami sequence in Hereafter is one of the most amazing set pieces in recent memory, with a really complicated & effective combination of live action and cg. Effects like that tend to get noticed by the visual effects branch, so don't be surprised to see it secure a nomination. Shutter Island, while good, was routine. Same with Unstoppable. The rest didn't really impress me, to be honest.
WV-Films writes:

I can't believe I live in a world where Unstoppable has been nominated for an academy award.
