"Alien" Prequel Gets Title and Casting News

"Alien" Prequel Gets Title and Casting NewsSubmit Comment
NY Mag is reporting that Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel is NOT being delayed as a result of waiting for Leonardo DiCaprio to become available. In fact, 20th Century Fox has confirmed that production will begin as early as March.

The magazine has also learned that the title of the prequel is "Paradise" and that the story follows a group of space travelers who encounter a monstrous alien creature that picks them off, one by one.

It has already been reported that Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is the front-runner for the Elizabeth Shaw, the main character in the movie. And NY Mag has now learned of other casting ideas.

The role of David, who is an early version of the Bishop 341-B android that Lance Henriksen played in "Aliens," has been offered to Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds). But the actor's reps have been asking for so much money that Fessbender may end up losing the part.

Meanwhile, Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is being considered to play Vickers, a fortysomething, tough, sexy woman. And there are a bunch of other interesting role, including an older businessman along for the ride, and Engineer 1, who will be played by a 6'5 actor, but will actually be entirely CGI (similar to Gollum in "LOTR").

Any word on another Predator movie, never cared much for the Alien movies (not saying they're not good)

Just always liked Predator

Aliens (the 2nd one), is the only one I'll watch.

The sequels are game over, and mostly come at night... mostly.

Looking forward to this. The concept art for the space jockeys looks really promising.

That synopsis sounds more-or-less exactly the same as the original film in the series.

I think 'Paradise' is just a script title, Fox aren't that stupid to f*ck up an already f*cked-up franchise.

Aw Fassbender come on just because you're great in the Basterds and you're comic villian in a movie thaqts not even out yet doesn't mean you get to be a f*ckin' *sshole A-lister wannabee. Do it please, just hearing about this news makes me think how awesome it would be to see your ass up there Bishop style.

Archie Hicox as an android? That sounds legit.

6'5" completely CGI character, $200mill plus budget, 3D, PG-13?

Ridley Scott has completely SOLD OUT and has obviously forgotten what made his original Alien film a classic. These prequels (which NEVER work) will be worse than the Star Wars POS prequels. I'm quickly losing respect for the Scott brothers and anyone who thinks this looks promising.

What ALREADY! isnt it a little early in your career fessbender.. i mean you were good in a inglourous bastards but come on.. at least wait till x-men first class comes out befor your ego starts rollin.

"Alien Paradise" is a decent title considering the film's plot. The Space Jockeys have a genetically-altered terraformed utopia before it crumbles under the mutation of their alien bean-pickers into monsters.
It's sounding more like the Eloi/Morlock conflict from The Time Machine.
Champ1432 writes:

@Damon-exactly what I thought. That sounds exactly like Alien. Maybe the types of people on the ship will be a little different? Eh... different enough to make me interested? No. It's all the same as what we've seen before.
