Russell Brand in "RentaGhost" Comedy, Similar to "BeetleJuice"Submit Comment
Warner Bros has acquired the rights to the British comedy show "RentaGhost" and will develop it into a "Beetlejuice"-style afterlife comedy film for Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek) to star in.

Brand will play Fred Mumford, a recently deceased man determined to be more productive as a corpse than he was during his life as a slacker. He attempts to set himself up in a temp agency that rents out ghosts to the living.

The original series was created by Bob Block and ran on BBC1 from 1976-1984. The movie is currently searching for writers to pen the script.

Dave-

I liked the show as a kid as well.

A movie is not really needed. Maybe an updated kids show might be ok.

But i can see Brand as Timothy Claypole though, Michael Staniforth (RIP) did a great job first time round.

@tt

Yep, good little innocent show is going to get f*ckt to hell by the studios. And you're right he would make a good Claypole, only thing the studios don't think he is a main character, but if Brand had a brain in that empty space of a head he would tell the studios I want to be Claypole.

How long till "Metal Mickey"?

thanx for being gentle this time.

Dave- Metal mickey is another good show.

Us Brits just don't make good kids tv anymore, All we do is import shows from the US now.

It's a shame we made some good kids shows over the years.

@Dave the Photo Guy

Russell Brand in "RentaGhost" Comedy, Similar to "BeetleJuice" ... Maybe we will be lucky and Russell will be found in his flat dead, overdosed on prescription pills (with Katy Perry out getting groceries or something), by an Olsen sister (after a scheduled appointment with his masseuse).

We can only hope for the best.

Russell Brand is NOT funny. Never has been.

He's a British, male version of Sarah Silverman.

Oh and his little marriage to Katy Perry? I give it less than 4 years. There's no way an imbecile like this is smart enough to hold onto a piece of ass like that.
DaveThePhotoGuy writes:

@tt, max, big and cinema

Let's hope Hollywood comes to it's senses and let's leave the British tv show to movie transfer to the Brits.
