Writer Wants Tom Welling as Superman in "Green Lantern"

Writer Wants Tom Welling as Superman in "Green Lantern"Submit Comment
While speaking to writer Marc Guggenheim, MTV asked him whether there is any truth to Superman showing up in the upcoming "Green Lantern" movie. Guggenheim said that his original script had room for a cameo.

"Without trying very hard, you could probably find the leaked script on the internet. [The Superman cameo] is in the leaked script," he said. "It survived several drafts. Ultimately, it was cut for budgetary reasons. We took it out in one of our later drafts. The Clark Kent cameo is still near and dear to my heart. I really wanted it to be in the movie. You never know it can still happen. If Tom Welling has a free hour or two, you never know."

That's right, he mentioned "Smallville" star Tom Welling. He could have been joking, but it gives hope to all those Welling fans out there.

Oh f*ck Hollywood, are you ever stupid!

As it's a GL movie, concentrate on that without any dilution. I've suggest in the past (several times) they just have Supes as a guest speaker on OA, maybe our GL arrives to the conference a bit late, Supes is done his guest speaker bit, and walks off stage shaking hands, limbs (and what have you)... so you could use ANYONE! Don't show Supes face! As you haven't picked an actor for your next Supes movie... use a generic here! This way Supes is still cross-marketed. Our new GL can see the fanfare a heavyweight like Supes can get... and you smother GL with a Supes cameo.
Use you head!

Bad Idea, shoulda kept a cameo... with Routh, of course

@FBO - if they MUST put a face to it... I didn't mind Routh a bit. But given a choice... keep Supes face outta this.

I want Tom Welling as Clark Kent/Superman in Zack Snyder's Superman:The Man of Steel!

Wow, talk about a missed opportunity. Iron Man 2 sucked spoiled ass, but it still raked in money and look at all the crappy Avengers tie-ins that piece of sh*t had.

Um no, not in the 1st GL at least.

Actually they should!

CG Chris Reeves face onto an actor. T

hat would be a GREAT tribute!

@Detrimental- That can happen if we can get George "I'm gonna f*ck your childhood up" Lucas to do a a full cgi representation of him.

Why are you reporting this? This was a joke by the writer about a cameo scene that hasn't been in the script for like 2 years.

@Ranger

Terminator Salvation.

Arnold Swartzenegger's face was placed on Roland Kirkinger's physique.

Not again.

And they did a really crappy job when the 2 President's in 'My Fellow Americans' were on horseback.

I'd just hope for GL and Supes sake... they do Reeve justice and do it right.

f*ck it, dig up the REAL Chris Reeves and cast him. He's probably loosened up a bit, a little more mobile now.

What, too soon?
Bunny X writes:

@Ranger, see how Hollywood hates you? They take a great idea that you have and bastardize it to no end. No face Superman cameo!!!! That's it.
Hell, they can dub Reeve's voice from previous movies and splice together a halfway decent speach to catch the tail end of.

Budgetary reasons my ass.
The scene was cut because WB doesn't want to reveal their new vision for Superman before they're ready. Green Lantern is filming now, and I doubt they even want to announce the Superman actor before the spring.
It would be great if there was still time to pull it together, but for now it seems like WB isn't that serious about integrating all their heroes into one shared universe.
They don't want cameo appearances among the films, and they're just going to let the successful bits of Smallville fade away with no spinoffs.
