Jon Favreau Says "Iron Man 3" is a Sequel to "The Avengers"

Jon Favreau Says "Iron Man 3" is a Sequel to "The Avengers"Submit Comment
We recently learned that "Iron Man 3" is already being planned and that Marvel had recently visited EMPAC in New York as a possible location for the villain's secret lab.

Even though that news was confirmed by the people at EMPAC, director Jon Favreau says that he has no idea what the third installment will be about. Mostly because he has yet to even see the scripts for "Thor," "Captain America" and "The Avengers."

"'Iron Man 3' is going to be a sequel or continuation of 'Thor,' 'Hulk,' 'Captain America' and 'Avengers,'" he explained. "This whole world... I have no idea what it is. I don't think they do either from conversations I've had with those guys."

Favreau added that he will likely not know the exact story of any future Marvel films until they are in theaters, because the studio likes to shape their movies in post-production. By that logic "Iron Man 3" will have under a year to be thrown together since that's how long after "The Avengers" it will be released.

Smells like doom to me. Why can't these guys get it right like the animated teams do? The new Avengers show is pretty good and they tied in many of the characters and their back stories successfully. Granted, there's a lot more flexibility since its animated but story-wise, they're spot on. They did it pretty slick too. They had these mini-episodes of each individual character that led them to their forming the Avengers and then took the series from there. Hell, they managed to make Ant-Man one of the most interesting characters on the show.

Iron Man is a sequel to the Avengers but also a sequel to Iron Man 2 which in itself was a sequel to Iron Man .... uhm, I was going to do a Six Degrees of Iron Man thing, but it fell through.

Much like Iron Man 2 did.

This does not sound good for the 3rd one

WHY!!! Why can't Iron Man 3 be more like part 1.... ABOUT IRON MAN. I hated how much "Avengers" crap was in Iron Man 2.

because they're going to need help from the extraterrestrial subplots of Avengers to lend credibility to why the Mandarin has the powers of a giant alien dragon.
Makes sense to me.
And the team can't work for the government forever. Iron Man 3 should end with him founding the public Avengers team in the classic NYC Avengers Mansion (with a real Jarvis).

@Che - how's English class going you dipsh*t?

@Bunny - I had registered (Writer's Guild of America) back in '98 ('99?) an Iron Man treatment floating around Hollyweird (New Line saw it - that had the IM rights at the time, Dreamworks, etc.). It was an origin story (but Tony's kidnapping was the result of being aboard a military plane testing a device he created that could turn ANY plane into a stealth plane (on radar)) - and I had Doom as the villain. Plus IM had to fight a few hundred pounds (1 dozen) Sentinels in Doom's castle to get to Doom...

IM vs. Doom... it's about time Hollyweird!

PS: IM2 sucked as does Che's bonding(age) night with daddy on drunken bowling night.
