"Tangled" Beats "Harry Potter" This Weekend

"Tangled" Beats "Harry Potter" This WeekendSubmit Comment
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" grossed another $17 million this weekend to bring it's worldwide total to $713 million. But it had to settle for second place at the box office, since Disney's "Tangled" beat it with $21.5 million.

"Quality rises to the top," the studio said about "Tangled." "Meantime, we have the holidays ahead of us, and therein lies the strength of our long-term prospects."

Unfortunately, this weekend's take brings the film's worldwide total to only $142 million. While that's pretty good for a movie that's been in theaters for only ten days, "Tangled" cost a whopping $260 million to make.

The only new wide release of the weekend, "The Warrior's Way," landed in ninth place with $3.1 million. The $42 million film will obviously not make its money back.

Meanwhile, Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan" opened in 18 theaters and ended up grossing an incredible $1.4 million. Jim Carrey's "I Love You Phillip Morris," however, grossed only $113,000 from six theaters.

Quality? HP 7 was pretty good my friend, not gonna take your word. Besides, my opinion has already been made this gay, silly, schlock.

Great movie but really? "Quality rises to the top"? Your movie is a week older than Harry Potter. On top of that this was definitely a much better Harry Potter than previous attempts which were meh at best.

Congrats to a good movie but really have a bit of perspective.

Well, hats off to Disney for selling a tall-tale film that transitions their traditional and cel-based stories into 3D, but did they have to sound so pompous doing it?
