Disney to Shoot "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" and "6" Back-to-Back

Disney to Shoot "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" and "6" Back-to-BackSubmit Comment
After the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" hit theaters, Disney immediately began work on the second and third installments which director Gore Verbinski shot back-to-back. The studio would have loved to do the same for the fourth and fifth films, but Verbinski left and eventually replaced with Rob Marshall (Chicago).

Now that has wrapped production on "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," Disney is said to be very happy with the results. So happy that the studio has been quietly telling the cast and crew to set aside a major block of time in the very near future in order to be available for the filming of "Pirates 5" and "Pirates 6," which will be shot back-to-back.

It's a lot cheaper to shoot the films back-to-back and is a great way to keep the same cast, but it can be very risky if the first film doesn't do well in theaters. It seems that Disney feels it's worth taking the risk.

They're happy. Well, they better savor the moment cuz it's not gonna be the same if this movie flops. I really wanna see their face if it happens.

How about they create an anti-sequel, where it actually eliminates the sequels from existence so that I never would've had to watch or pay for them in the first place.

Why. Why are there more?

This franchise is turning into Land Before Time. By PotC 11, Jack Sparrow will be 102 and his adventures will be centered around picking up medicine from the drug store.

i don't think pirates are ever gonna flop...there's something about those movies that got people hooked; and (contrary to popular belief) it's not just Johnny Depp...it's everything; me..i like the score; i frickin love the score;

Disney to Shoot "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" and "6" Back-to-Back .... because that worked so well for The Matrix Reloaded and Matrix : Revolutions

I hope Disney has enough cocaine and various drugs to keep Keith Richards alive and going ... they probably do. They keep a secret stash for the CEOS, so they can keep tearing out babies hearts and committing human sacrifice to keep the Disney name in epic money.

^ Good call Max lol. Looking at the bright side here at least no more Orlando Bloom.

I don't think it will flop, but it won't do the same business as the previous threquel. But if they continue, the fourth and fifth may very well bomb.

breaking news:Disney will make POTC 7,8,9 and 10 as it was so happy with this article about making 5 and 6.

Let's see if the dvds of 1-3 are still on amazon if not then disney has no faith In 4 and I would say f*ck these rumors

@Max Rockatansky Junior Why did you use The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions as examples? Wouldn't it make more sense to use Pirates Of The Caribbean 2&3? And filming those back-to-back worked out pretty damn well for Disney!

Didn't shooting 2 and three of the series back to back result in two endless and ultimately less satisfying sequels as a result? YES. Does Disney learn from anything? f*ck NO!

@JS&BM!

I could agree with you on Disney's bottom margin, financially speaking, but the point I was trying to make is that while some back to back sequels (Back to the Future 2 and 3; Lord of the Rings : The Two Towers & Lord of the Rings : Return of the King) do well both at the box office and in regards to movie reviews (for the most part) across the board, some are depreciative to the story, as a whole (The Matrix : Reloaded and Matrix : Revolutions. Oh, and you don't have to use 'The' on the third films name.). While two did well, with Verbenski riding on the wave of the initial installment, the third may have done well in the box office, but the story dragged quite a bit (the whole Davy Jones' Locker/Chest story was stalled plotline if ever there was one).
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

In fact, the whole Davy Jones Locker/Chest scene should've been a deleted scene

@BadChadB33

Yep. He's Jared Leto, minus the talent.
